Many people when they hear All- Inclusive vacation or Caribbean getaway automatically think Sandals resorts. Why is that? Because Sandals resorts have been known to set the standard in All-Inclusive getaways since 1981 when they opened their first property in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Over the years this brand developed and expanded to 17 resorts across 8 different islands. And not only did they expand their brand through resorts they developed and executed a gold standard of customer service and experience for guests visiting these properties. But that’s not all- Sandals being a family-owned company also decided to not only have these amazing and luxurious resorts for couples, in 1997 the opened their first family friendly resort in Negril, Jamaica- Beaches. Now the brand is still predominately present in the adult only category but over the years they have added a second Beaches property Turks and Caicos.
So, what is the difference between these two “brands”? So many things yet not at the same time!
Let’s start with the main difference that may seem obvious now. Sandals resorts are adult- only and specifically for couples. Can you go with friends? Of course, there is a vibe throughout to create a space to celebrate love and happiness within these resorts. These properties are perfect for honeymooners, anniversaries, and even weddings! Also, adults from all generations can truly enjoy these resorts. There are some that a livelier than others that can be more peaceful and romantic and your agent can most definitely help you find the one that fits you best.
Beaches properties are as you guessed the opposite - family friendly! These two resorts have waterparks, camps for kids, teen activities and family-friendly entertainment that guests of all ages can enjoy with the rest of their travel party.
Another difference among the two would be that Beaches can be a little less quiet! We all know how a pool with kids can be and it is this way here as the energy and playfulness is in full effect! It is vacation anyways, isn’t it? Beaches even has Sesame Street characters to come out and entertain the kids throughout the day.
Sandals and Beaches both offer an array of amazing dining experiences. With different themes and cuisines across each resort. While at Beaches they will offer more kid and casual family options, whereas Sandals is geared towards and adult experience. But that’s not to say you won’t be able to enjoy high end dining options at Beaches - you most definitely still can!

Like many All-Inclusive resorts you will still be able to experience the same amenities between the two different style resorts, but they are more tailored to the party you are traveling with. The kids’ clubs offer so many fun activities for kids of all ages while then allowing the adults to enjoy their time alone whether it be at the spa, the fitness center or a relaxing day by the pool. Whereas at Sandals adults can also enjoy those same amenities and maybe their decision will be between the main pool with entertainment and games or a more secluded pool where they can lounge and take in the scenery in peace and quiet.
