Beaches Turks and Caicos vs Beaches Negril

By:  Bobbie Jo Schieber, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

When exploring options for a family friendly all inclusive resort the household name of Beaches Resorts typically comes to mind, but which one is the best or better for your family?  I am going to break down the pros and cons of these two amazing destinations to help you decide where to go!

Turks and Caicos vs Beaches Negril

First off, you cannot go wrong with either of these resorts.  Both include so much for the family to do like:

  • All Inclusive gourmet food
  • Highly rated FREE childcare
  • Lazy River
  • Water Slides
  • Splash Pad
  • Great Beach
  • Amazing Service
  • Tips and fees included

BUT there are a few differences to think about when choosing between Beaches Negril (Jamaica) and Beaches Turks and Caicos.

Beaches Negril is located two plus hours from the airport.  When you land in Montego Bay there is an additional transfer time to your final destination.  These roads are not the best and with small children this could make for a very long travel day.  I personally would not recommend this destination to families with toddlers or younger simply due to the exhaustion it may cause at the front end of your trip.  Especially if you live somewhere in the US that will require two flights to get to Jamaica.  If you are in a location with direct flights this might be more feasible.  If you do decide on this destination get Club Mobay to fast track through customs and save you some time on arrival to this country.

Beaches Turks and Caicos is a short 15 minute transfer from the airport to the hotel.  This in itself makes this destination appealing to those who already have a long travel day.

Beaches Negril Water Park

Beaches Negril is a smaller, more quaint resort.  Everything on the property is located within 20 acres and is easily walkable.  When you are sitting on the beach you are able to see the water park and easily access the bars and food right from your beach chair.  With the smaller resort the resort employees really make you feel like you are a part of the family remembering your name and your favorite drink orders.

Beaches Turks & Caicos Water Park

Beaches Turks and Caicos is located on 95 acres and once was multiple hotels that were purchased and combined to make one larger resort. Many people will utilize a stroller for walking to different parts of the resort due to how spread out everything is.  It is not as accessible to hop back to your room to get something quickly.   The beach and water park are in separate areas of the resort.  This makes things feel spaced out and less quaint. With a larger resort the capacity and employee amount are larger so the small family feel is less than at Beaches Negril, but Beaches Resorts in general try to make the atmosphere fun and enjoyable no matter which resort you are at.

Beaches Watersports

One of the largest differences between the two is the beach and the amenities.  Beaches Negril is located on a seven mile long beach.  This beach is beautiful and swimmable for the kids, but it does not compare to the flour like sand and clear blue waters that is located at Beaches Turks and Caicos.  With Turks and Caicos located on a larger property you will have more amenities, a larger water park, water slides and a brand new splash pad.

Turks and Caicos vs Beaches Negril

In the end, you cannot go wrong with choosing either of these resorts, but if you are looking for a shorter transfer and the beach is most important to you then I would choose Beaches Turks and Caicos.  If you don't mind the transfer time, maybe your kids are a little older, and you want everything to be close to each other with a more intimate family setting then I would choose Beaches Negril.
