Which Disney Wish-Class Ship Is Right for Your Family? Wish vs. Treasure vs. Destiny vs. Believe

By: Maddie Beehner, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

With its maiden voyage on the horizon, the Disney Believe marks the last of the Wish Class of Ships that will be fully operated by Disney. All four of these ships share similar layouts and amenities, but vastly differ in terms of theming, home ports, and voyages. The biggest question now is – which ship is best for your family? The Wish, The Treasure, The Destiny, or The Believe? Using a Disney Specialist Marvelous Mouse Agent is one of the best ways to guarantee you end up on the ship that is best for your family!

What Is a Disney Wish-Class Ship?

The Wish Class was started by the Disney Wish in 2022. These ships represent a new approach to Disney marked by full immersion into their IPs, as well as advanced technology. Compared to the Dream Class, they both have around 1,200 staterooms, but the Wish Classes contain around 15,000 more tons of internal storage.

On board, the Wish Class ships feel much closer to the experience you would find at Disney Parks. This means high immersion, modern technology and intense Disney branding. They have dinner shows, storytellers, themed bars and more! Whereas the Dream classes have a more classic feeling, and are a bit easier to navigate. You’ll find a more nostalgic experience on board those.

Disney Wish: Best for Princess Fans and First-Time Cruisers

Disney’s first in the class, the Wish focuses on enchantment with a Cinderella themed Grand Hall. It features Rapunzel on the stern as well! Almost all of its spaces and dining are themed to different princess movies, with The Bayou (Princess and the Frog), Nightingale’s (Cinderella), and Arendelle (Dinner Show). It also has staterooms featuring Cinderella, Frozen, Moana, The Little Mermaid, Tangled and Sleeping Beauty. It features Broadway level productions of Seas the Adventure, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.

That’s not to say there’s nothing for the adults to do! The Wish has a plethora of adults only spaces for you to enjoy, with the same Disney magic engineered for your littles. The Hyperspace Lounge is also a favorite for Star Wars fans. But ultimately, if your family loves princesses and fairy tales, this is definitely the ship for you!

The Wish is currently sailing 3 and 4 night Bahamian Cruises out of Port Canaveral, making it a fantastic option for those looking to dip their toes into cruising, or looking for a pre/post Disney World Stay.

Disney Treasure: Best for Multigenerational Families and Adventure Lovers

Disney Treasure cruise ship Aladdin-inspired Grand Hall

The spirit of adventure meets classic Disney on the Treasure! With a Grand Hall themed to Aladdin, the Treasure encapsulates a large amount of stories from classic Walt Disney Films, to Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar. The ship strikes a balance between modern styles and classic charm, with staterooms themed to Aladdin, Pocahontas, Up and Encanto. Its rotational dining features Plaza De Coco, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923, rounding out Walt’s love of adventure that inspired the ship. The shows on board are Seas the Adventure, Moana and Beauty and the Beast.

For the lounges, there's the Haunted Mansion Parlor, Skipper Society, Scat Cat Lounge, and Perioscope Pub. Other areas of the ship feature characters and theming from Moana, Mulan, Zootopia, and The Lion King. It is such a diverse ship with something for everyone to love on board!

The Treasure currently sails 6 and 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries out of Cape Canaveral. Its most common ports of call are Castaway Cay, Tortola, St. Thomas, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. For families with older children, or multigenerational families, this is a great choice.

Disney Destiny: Best for Marvel Fans and Older Kids

Disney Destiny cruise ship Black Panther-inspired Grand Hall

The spirit of bold heroism and storytelling comes alive on the Disney Destiny! Centered around a "Heroes and Villains" theme, the Destiny features a Grand Hall inspired by Marvel’s Black Panther and Wakanda, with spider man on the hull! The ship showcases a mix of classic and modern Disney lore, with staterooms themed to Disney and Marvel legends like Hercules, The Incredibles, Brave, and Raya and the Last Dragon. Its rotational dining features Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King (a musical dining experience), along with Worlds of Marvel and 1923, highlighting the clashes between good and evil that drive Disney's stories. It’s live shows are

Seas the Adventure, Hercules and Frozen. It also has an adults only Marvel comedy show – With Great Power.

For the lounges, there’s Cask & Flagon (inspired by Tangled's Snuggly Duckling), De Vil's lounge, the Sanctum (themed to Doctor Strange), and the Haunted Mansion Parlor. It is an action-packed ship overflowing with personality and action for every guest! The Destiny sails 4- and 5-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean itineraries out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Its most common ports of call include Disney’s private island destinations, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, as well as Nassau and Cozumel. For families with Marvel fans, tweens, teens, or adults who love Disney's darker, edge, this is a great choice!

Disney Believe: Best for Families Who Want a Mix of Disney Favorites

Promise and possibility take the stage on the newly introduced Disney Believe. With a focus on what is possible, the ship features Moana in the Grand Hall. Its staterooms feature Disney and Pixar favorites; Moana, Zootopia, Inside Out, Toy Story, Coco and Peter Pan with papercut headboards. It will also feature the first ever stage adaptation of Encanto as well as a revamped Tangled show!

The lounges, Sea Notes, Wishing Well, and Haunted Mansion Parlor, are themed after Little Mermaid, Snow White and The Haunted Mansion, respectively. It’s dining brings back Frozen for a new summer themed show, Oaken’s Table, as well as Worlds of Marvel and 1923. While many argue this ship is just a repeat of a lot of its predecessors, I see it as a “greatest hits” ship! It’s a perfect way to end Disney’s Wish Class. It takes the best of all the previous, and combines them into one ship, making it easier than ever for families to find something they love! It’s got princesses, superheroes, animals, fairies and everything in between.

Sailing out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, the Believe runs Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries with stops Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. For families who love the modern Wish-class layout and want a familiar, dependable Disney cruise experience, it delivers exactly what works! I’m super excited for it to finally set sail!
