World of Color Dessert Party

By:  Haley Sosnick, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

Disneyland California Adventure Park has a nighttime water show called World of Color.  This show occurs twice nightly at Paradise Bay.  You can watch the show from afar or you can watch more closely.  Your options for this are to enter the standing room only roped-off area set aside for premium viewing.  How you do this is either by entering the virtual queue or by purchasing a dining package or dessert party package.

World of Color Dessert Party

The World of Color Dessert Party is a premium way to enjoy this special nighttime water and light show.  Guests are treated to reserved seating in a prime viewing area, complete with a table for your party. You'll enjoy a spread of delicious desserts, cheese, and fruit, along with a choice of beverages, including adult beverages, hot chocolate, bottled water, coffee, or soft drinks.

How it Works:

  1. Reserve your spot in advance through your app or My Disney Experience account.  You will have to pay in full at the time of booking.
  2. Check in at the designated area.  Your app will designate the time and location for check in.  It is typically about an hour before show time.
  3.  You will be escorted to the viewing area a little after your official check in time.  They usually take people in groups to help eliminate a line backing up.
  4. Your waiter will immediately greet you with treats and start bringing you your beverages of choice.
  5. Sit back and enjoy the show!

Tips and Tricks

  • If you know this is something you might want to do then book it as soon as the packages open up.  You can always cancel later but these can easily sell out as there are a limited number of seats.
  • When lining up for your wristband you will see people lining up early to check in.  I like to come about 2 hours before check in then after I get my wristband I will walk around and find some shopping or rides then come back just a little less than an hour later so I am not waiting too long and can make the best use of my time.
  • Always check your app.  Your meeting location may change so it is always good to double check your app at least a few hours before your designated arrival time to ensure you know where you are going.
  • If you do decide to cancel, check the app for official cancellation policies.  Typically, if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance you will get a full refund.  If this is something you are considering, I would set an alarm to remind you at least 25-26 hours in advance so you don’t miss your window!
  • Know that this is a pay in advance reservation so you will have to pay in full when you book.
  • When you get your wristband you will be asked if you want a high-top table or a regular table.  It is my experience that the high-top tables are better.  You are usually along the back row since the tables are higher.  But this also means you won’t have to worry about anyone larger than you blocking your view.  This is a big pro for someone like myself, who is short.  I also appreciated this location so we could get in and out easier.  It made a quick restroom break and our departure so convenient.  But honestly, when you get this upgrade there really isn’t a “bad seat”

World of Color Dessert Party

If the World of Color Dessert Party is something you’ve debated, I always say it’s something you should try at least once.  I know for my family, we are big fans of rides and that’s always our priority.  We rarely slow down enough to watch a full show of any kind.  But this was a nice break for us and my kids were more engaged with the show when they had a good seat and yummy treats!
