Why You Don’t Want to Skip Brunch at Remy on the Disney Fantasy

By: Kayla Fleischmann, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

I recently set sail on the Disney Fantasy and explored the Western Caribbean, and while riding  the Aquaduck was a blast, my favorite experience on the ship was brunch at Remy during our  day at sea.

Brunch at Remy

Remy is an adults-only restaurant aboard the Disney Fantasy and her sister ship the Disney  Dream. It serves dinner every night of the voyage and brunch exclusively on sea days. The  menu is crafted by Chef Scott Hunnel, from Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World, and 3- Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement.

The brunch menu consisted of six courses and there is an optional champagne tasting for an  additional $40 per person. We decided not to do the tasting but after having brunch at Remy I will probably splurge next time!

They did give us a glass of champagne at the beginning of of the meal which was excellent.

To prepare our palettes, they gave us sour dough bread with three types of butter, regular, red  pepper, and seaweed and a small side of sea salt. Our server explained we should spread the  butter on the bread and then add a small pinch of sea salt. I tried all three and each one was  amazing. I did try them with and without the salt and with the salt was definitely the way to go!

Our first course arrived and, because we had three people in our group, it was brought by three  separate people and hit the table at the same time. Our main server explain that what they  brought out was Jamon Iberico Pata Negra, an amazing ham from Spain. It was absolutely  incredible and a great start to our meal.

Once we were done with that, our plates were taken away and our second course arrived. This  was the lobster and mango salad with lobster, fresh mango, caviar, mango gel, and some leafy  greens and flowers. This was great. The mango gel was a great addition to the flavors inside  but the caviar balanced that well so that the sweetness wasn’t overpowering.

Our next course was a braised short rib ravioli with a cheese sauce and mushroom dollop on  the side. I am not a huge cheese person so I was a bit nervous going into this course, but this  was probably my favorite course out of all of them. The crunchy round design on top gave it  great texture and the ravioli was the best I have ever had. I even used my spoon to finish the  cheese sauce and mushroom in the bowl (recommended by our server).

Our fourth course was my friend’s favorite. It was toothfish with an amazing sauce that was  savory over a potato emulsion. It was recommended to try all of the flavors together and it was  incredible. None of had ever had toothfish before but we will definitely be looking for it on other menus (or coming back to Remy). It was just that good!

Our fifth course, which was also the main course, was the Wagyu beef and gnocchi. This was  hands down the best steak I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly and each bite just melted  in your mouth. They also offer a higher grade wagyu which is known to be the best in the world  for an additional charge, however we went with the one that comes with brunch and have no regrets.

Our final course was dessert. They served an apple tart with a shortbread crust and a side of  vanilla ice cream. As a big apple dessert fan, I absolutely loved this. We were also served  amazing coffee that definitely didn’t taste like the coffee served in other parts of the ship.

After our dessert our server had one more surprise for us and brought out small cakes with a  vanilla custard taste. These were so good and a great way to finish off our meal.

As we exited the restaurant we did get to say goodbye to Remy who greets everyone entering  from a top a chandelier. This is an adorable detail that was pointed out when we were being  seated.

Overall, we had an amazing experience at Remy and I would recommend it to anyone looking  for some time away from the kids, who can have fun in the kids club, or those on an adults only trip looking for great experience. The brunch at Remy is an additional cost at $75 per person not  including gratuities, but we left extremely satisfied and I personally cannot wait to go back!
