One question that so many of the travel planners that are a part of Marvelous Mouse Travels always receives is, why stay onsite (in one form or another)? Honestly, there are endless reasons to stay onsite at Walt Disney World, but let's discuss a few of the most popular reasons that can sway you towards staying at a Walt Disney World Resort!
Location, location, location! Walt Disney World Resort properties have the best locations in regards to the parks. Each resort has a designated park location (EPCOT Resort Area, Magic Kingdom Resort Area, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort Area, Disney Springs Resort Area, Wide World of Sports Area). Based on the resort area, the location is generally the closest park/district to that specific place.
Along with the location, Walt Disney World offers transportation to and from all of the theme parks, Disney Springs, water parks, and mini golf! There are a few different transportation options depending on where you stay. Disney Monorail, Disney Skyliner, Disney Bus, and even water taxis are available for guests. If you are looking to travel in style, guests traveling from one area inside of Walt Disney World property to another location can purchase a Minnie Van transportation option. One guest in the Minnie Van must be at least 18 years of age.This transportation option does offer up to 2 car seats for those in need. The Minnie Van also offers accessible transportation options for those with mobility devices. It is also the only transportation option, other than the other Disney options, that are able to drop guests off at the entrance of the parks. Other rideshare options must drop off at a designated location further away from the entrances. To utilize a Minnie Van to the airport, guests must be staying Club Level at select resorts.
Up next, Dining Plans! The two Disney Dining Plan options are only available to guests that stay on Walt Disney World property. The dining plans are amazing because it allows guests to have most of their meals pre-paid prior to arriving for their vacation. No extra stress about how much your meal will cost. Budget in a few extra snacks and you are good to go!
One thing I love is the extra time in the parks! All guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort receive an extra 30 minutes in the theme parks in the morning prior to the park opening for general day time guests. To maximize your vacation time, guests with a Deluxe Resort or Deluxe Villa reservation could also take advantage of the Extended Evening Hours at select parks on select days. This allows those select resorts access to certain parks with little waits for attractions and even some characters
Ease of purchases. Sure it is pretty easy to make a purchase these days. Your watch, your phone, credit cards, and even cash are always at our fingertips. But what if I told you that you wouldn’t need to carry any of those things to the parks to make purchases. Most Disney Destinations have adapted the Disney MagicBand+ into their systems of day to day. Your Disney account holds a credit card of your choosing for purchases, you wear a Disney MagicBand+ and tap it to the register keypad, enter your pin and you’re off! No worrying about receiving change and keeping it throughout the day. If you wish to pay off your balance with cash, a different card, or even a Disney Gift Card, guests can stop by the front desk of their resort to apply that different form of payment the evening before checking out.
The final reason, for today, is payments! Yes when you stay onsite at Walt Disney World and book a vacation package you are only required to pay a $200 deposit to create and secure the current pricing. After that deposit you have up until 30 days prior to check-in to pay off your vacation package. Payments can be made in any amount over $20 and at any time. No credit cards and no interest incurred. Promotions that are released, and applicable, can be applied to those reservations that are already booked.
