In 2022, Disney Cruise Line has announced the newest ship being added to the fleet, Disney Treasure. We know that the ship will set sail in 2024, but with no exact date yet. While there hasn't been too many updates regarding the ship, recently there has been a few small announcements, or more like clues to the ship, making it all come together!
It has been announced that Minnie Mouse will be taking the role as Captain aboard the newest vessel, and will be trading in her current captain wardrobe for something a little more fun and explorer worthy. The theme for the Treasure will be adventure, and Minnie's outfit fits the bill, but do not fret, she is still rocking those polka dots! Her newest look is very adventurous, starting with khaki pants, a navy blue blazer, red blouse with white polka dots, and all topped with a matching hat.
Every Disney Cruise Line ship has a magical art display painted on the bow, or the front, of the ship. The first four ships of the fleet featured Mickey Mouse in different characters, such as Sorcerer Mickey on two occasions, Captain Mickey, and Steamboat Willie. The Disney Wish was the first ship to feature Captain Minnie, and now so will the Disney Treasure! This artwork will have Captain Minnie in her explorer attire holding a telescope! I absolutely love seeing each of these pieces of art in person. The detail that goes into it is astonishing. If you look closely, you can see smaller portraits of other characters along the art, hidden Mickeys if you will.
The final piece of information that has been released is a huge stepping stone in the building process of the ship. As maritime tradition goes, the coin ceremony is the blessing of the ship during the early construction phases as the keel is being laid. The keel is the center spine at the bottom of the ship, and during that process the new coin, Captain Minnie in her new attire matching the art of the bow, is laid beneath the keel. At the end of March, the coin ceremony took place in Germany where the ship is being built.
