Universal Resorts and Parks knows how to party, and I’m not talking about just any party. I’m talking about Mardi Gras International Flavors of Carnaval. This special event, which is featured in the parks from February 4, 2023 through April 16, 2023, is included in your park admission to Universal Studios, and costs nothing extra to experience. When you hear Mardi Gras, you automatically think of the huge celebration in Louisiana, where it is the only state that has declared it as a legal holiday. Earlier this year, Universal announced the official lineup for the live music concerts, that once again are included in your admission ticket. Last year the artists were well known and a must see part of the event. This year is no exception, kicking off the weekend is the extraordinary Patti LaBelle. Other live musical talents being featured this year are Goo Goo Dolls, 3 Doors Down, Sean Paul, Maren Morris, and so many more! Food and beverages are another large part of the Carnaval! Flavors from around the world are featured around the park. From Belgium, Canada, and France, all the way to India, Italy, and OF COURSE, New Orleans. Universal Studios and Universal CityWalk features over 19 countries, and multiple items representing each. Of course you will find the traditional King Cake and beignets. But other menu items range from poutine (Canada), tostadas (Mexico), all the way to pholourie (Trinidad and Tobago), with so many aromatic flavors in between. Also featured on the menus you can find beverages, like the Java Cooler (Indonesia) the you see in the picture.
After snacking your way through the parks you can find a spot to relax and wait for the nighttime festivities to begin. The miraculous parade winds its way through the park, showing off the lights, music, and performers. While the floats are lit up with the most colorful lights, with music that is sure to get you to your feet, keep your eyes open while grooving to the music. Just like in New Orleans, beads are tossed into the crowd from the floats! Be sure to check out the parade route ahead of time and find the perfect viewing area! You do not want to miss this spectacular event!
