Disney has announced earlier in the week that Typhoon Lagoon, one of the two water parks on property is scheduled to reopen January 2, 2022. Blizzard Beach is scheduled to close January 1st for refurbishments; which is the typical schedule for the water parks to offset each other. Hours of operations are subject to change so if you plan to visit please check the daily hours.
But let’s dive deeper into Typhoon Lagoon! This water park is a tropical oasis that features many unique water slides, a massive wave pool and lazy River! There is a myth or story behind how the park came about. It is said that a treacherous storm swept across the tropical paradise wreaking havoc on everything in its path including many ships! One of which, Miss Tilly, that during the storm ended up perched on top of a great volcanic mountain, Mount Mayday. That’s not all! The geyser it sits on erupts every half hour! What a story! When in the park you can see Miss Tilly from everywhere and what a sight she is!
The wave pool is fantastic and the largest in the United States. There are a wide array of slides some including: Gang Plank Falls a raft ride for the family, Mayday Falls multi raft slide, Humunga Kowabunga which drops five stories, and Crush ‘n Gusher an aqua coaster experience!
Typhoon Lagoon also has many options to grab a bite to eat. Leaning Palms is a great option for hearty and healthy eats and Let’s Go Slurping is a refreshment port. Another great option to enjoy the day of fun in the sun is to relax under umbrellas or even private cabanas. On your next visit to Walt Disney World be sure to take some time to visit the water park and don’t forget to check out Miss Tilly, but take cover when she erupts!
