Tron Lightcycle/Run opened in April at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom. This high-speed thrill ride is located in Tomorrowland, near Space Mountain and behind the Tomorrowland Speedway. I had the opportunity to experience Tron for myself, and was very impressed!
Upon entering the queue, guests will become part of Team Blue, and receive instructions on how to proceed. Loose items are required to be placed in lockers, which are conveniently located in the queue. There is a small compartment on the Lightcycles for your phone if you choose not to place that in the locker. The Lightcycles are similar to motorcycles, with handlebars in the front to hold on to. This gives you a feeling of freedom and the ability to move your upper body with the twists and turns. The restraints at your back and calves are secure without feeling too tight.

Once you are seated on the Lightcycles, you are part of Team Blue. You will be racing against Team Orange in an attempt to be the first to cross through eight energy gates. The launch into the grid is very exciting, whisking you outside to the queue area! Once back inside, the ride is a very smooth, fast, and dark coaster. The music adds to the ambiance and excitement, making this ride one of the most thrilling rides in all of Walt Disney World!

I loved Tron Lightcycle/Run, and can’t wait to ride it again. I highly recommend riding it at night, when the colors of the grid are bright and ever changing. This is a great addition to Magic Kingdom, giving thrill-seekers unique option for their next visit.
