Traveling in a Post-COVID World

By:  Lindsay Smith, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

Travel looks a bit different nowadays, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as enjoyable as it once was! To help you navigate the skies in a post-COVID world, below are some things to consider for your upcoming trip!

  • Masks - while they may not be the most comfortable thing, they are required in most airports, on planes, and in most public places. Depending on your destination, they may or not be required at your resort (check with your travel agent if unsure). Make sure to pack plenty of extras, a clean mask is always going to feel much better than a dirty one. Switching up your mask type (i.e. paper to reusable) might also help with your comfort level. Masks can be removed while eating and drinking, if you need a break grab a coffee and find an empty spot in the airport.  Please note that at WDW, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.Outfit with Mask
  • Hand Sanitizer - or liquid gold as it’s known to many of us these days. Many public places will offer it, but if you like a specific kind or want it in all scenarios, make sure to pack plenty of your own!
  • Travel documents and COVID tests – depending on where you're going, there may be special documentation or COVID testing required in advance of your trip. Make sure you are confirming with your travel agent or your traveling country’s tourism website for requirements. Be prepared to show required documentation prior to boarding all flights as well as different checkpoints within your arriving airport.
  • Snacks/drinks – regular food and beverage services may be suspended with your airline. Some are offering water and a small snack. A lot of normal food and beverage offerings may be closed at airports as well. I highly recommend purchasing bottled water or other favorite beverages prior to boarding flight. If you have a long travel day, packing snacks from home might also be helpful.Airline Snacks

  • Be patient – this is a new world for a lot of us and everyone is learning to navigate at their own pace. Some are going to be more comfortable than others in public spaces. Keep calm and remember, you’re on vacation!
