Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen

By: Laura Georgian, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

If you’ve been to Universal Orlando’s Citywalk then there is no doubt you’ve noticed Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen.   On a recent travel agent training at Universal Studios Orlando, I was finally able to see what the rage is all about.

The massive chocolate factory looking restaurant, though unaffiliated, is wildly reminiscent of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.  The two-story restaurant greets you with an industrial factory vibe touting replica smokestacks and cogwheels above the main entrance.

Upon entering through the main doors you will be greeted with the host stand.  To your left is the milkshake counter and to your right you will see a chocolate / candy lover’s heaven candy shop.  The options were a bit overwhelming!

Since we were not sure what time we’d be leaving the parks that day, we didn’t tie ourselves to a reservation time.  We arrived around 6:30pm and headed upstairs to the full service food and drink bar where seating is on a first come first served basis.  The bar is always a great option if you don’t want to be tied to a reservation time, plus they DO allow children to eat there as well.  Even with the restaurant being fully committed for the evening and not taking any walk ins, we didn’t have to wait for seats.  We lucked out and found two together during prime dinner time.

The touchless menu was a cinch to use.  To start we ordered a Blue Moon and Peach Smash.  There’s just something about a Blue Moon in a glass with an orange wedge that makes it taste even better.  The Peach Smash was a great mix of peach, bitters and Bourbon.  As a person who detests bitters, I can honestly say this was delicious.

We had a huge sit-down lunch during our VIP tour a few hours earlier, so we weren’t starving, but wanted not only to check out Toothsome, but also grab a snack and nightcap!  We had every option from Appetizers to Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pasta, and Main Entrees.  The Wild Mushroom Chicken Risotto was calling my name, but ultimately, we decided to go lighter.

We ordered the Classic Margherita Flatbread and a basket of Truffle Fries to split.  OMG – possibly the best Truffle Fries I’ve ever had.

FUN FACT – Brunch is served ALL-DAY!  Yep, this is a great spot if you’re craving some French Toast at 7pm, they’ve got you covered.

And then it was time for dessert.  With over 12 specialty options it was nearly impossible to choose.  Everything from Red Velvet to Key Lime Pie, Confetti, Mint Chocolate Chip and more.  If milkshakes aren’t for you, there are eight custom sundae options, (dare I say S’mores or Strawberry Shortcake?!) and another half a dozen original desserts like Crème Brulee and Bread Pudding – both chocolate of course.

Throughout your visit you might be lucky enough to see some characters floating throughout the restaurant.  Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and her robot Jacques can often be found strolling throughout the emporium.  On our way to one last stroll through the candy store, we caught Jacques saying goodbye to us.

Overall, I give it 5 stars for food, ambiance, and a sweet tooth lover’s dream.  Even if you don’t want to eat a meal here, all visitors can walk into the side entrance and pick up treats at the candy shop or milkshake counter.  Just a few pictures to get your sweet tooth singing!

Toothsome is so popular it has recently opened a location at Universal Hollywood CityWalk.  If you’re planning to visit either Universal Studios location, make sure to reach out to a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent to help plan your trip.  When booking with Marvelous Mouse Travels, we handle all of your dining reservations, so you don’t have to worry about trying to book that milkshake!
