The Quest on Wonder of the Seas

By:  Jessica Bomberg, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

Most cruise lines offer interactive entertainment like trivia, name that tune and battle of the sexes. Royal Caribbean is no different. But on Wonder of the Seas, they have upped the ante with a whole different kind of game show called The Quest; an adults-only, team-based game show. I got to experience The Quest firsthand on my recent cruise aboard Wonder of the Seas with several of my travel agent friends. And I have never laughed so hard!

The Quest

Here’s how it works. The Quest takes place in the Studio B ice rink because it’s as close to a theater-in-the-round space they have on board. Everyone is a participant! Guests can sit anywhere they want but if you have traveled with friends or family, make sure you save seats to all sit together. As the show begins, each section of the ice rink is divided into large teams. And I mean large! You will not just be playing with your friends or family, you’ll be playing with other cruise guests – upwards of 100 people sometimes.

Each team has to pick two participants, one man and one woman, to represent them. Crew staff ask a series of questions or challenges - think a scavenger hunt that sometimes doesn’t even take you out of your seat. Team captains are responsible for making sure their team submits an answer for every question or challenge offered up.

There’s a reason this game show is only for adults. The humor during this show is not meant for kids! Some of the challenges we encountered were:

  • putting lipstick on a male team member
  • dancing as a team
  • making a male team member wear five or six bras (where do you think we got those bras?)
  • Forming a human train
  • a man doing the worm
  • a man acting like a dog with worms
  • two men skipping around the room holding hands
  • men wearing as many women’s accessories as possible and then competing in an impromptu pageant.

You get the idea. And I’m just realizing now that the men took the brunt of it! 🤣

Be warned! Cruise staff will not hesitate to poke fun at the way teams respond to the questions and challenges. It’s all part of the game!

In the end, only one team can win. Ours unfortunately did not. We were robbed. 😉 My tips for playing: wear or bring some items that can easily be removed and shared with your team, grab a drink (or two), and be ready to HAVE FUN!
