When you visit Disneyland, you are transformed into “a scene from a movie” in many areas of the parks. For many many years guests have been able to climb the steps of a treehouse, designed after The Swiss Family Robertson, and explore stories of their way of life. It was originally designed in 1962 after the Disney film. It was then redesigned to Tarzan’s Treehouse (1999-2021), and now back to being inspired by The Swiss Family Robertson but with a new storyline. Recently, the treehouse at Disneyland has been undergoing some refurbishments and will now reopen to guests on November 10, 2023!
The new official name for the attraction is Adventureland Treehouse Inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Roberston. Guests will be able to ascend the beautiful stone staircase into the family home featuring rooms designed after each member of the family and their shared spaces.
The new adventure will feature rooms like “mother’s music den, the son’s nature room, and the daughter’s astronomer loft” as described by Disney Parks Blog. The father’s studio is also featured and will show the inventions, gadgets, and art sketches. While the boys share a room, they have brought together nature and animals to create one environment where everyone can coexist. As mentioned above, the daughter’s room is themed with astronomy items like telescopes and books while it overlooks the treeline. On the bottom floor, guests will experience a kitchen and dining room.
The waterwheel is also still a part of the Adventureland Treehouse. The family designed this on a pulley system to help bring the water up to where it is needed in the house. It is also used to help power the fathers inventions and gadgets when needed. Everything is designed with the thought that they used what they found, and were creative when doing so.
