Are you planning a vacation for summer 2023? Do you need a little extra reason to travel? I’ve got the cutest reason for you! Everyone’s favorite, mischief creating, little yellow friends will have new attractions and shops this summer in Universal Studios Orlando! While official dates have not yet been released, planning a later summer vacation is just the thing to see the new area, Illumination’s Minion Land. Anyone else say “Illumination’s” in the Minion voice?
Back in January 2022 the former ride, Shrek 4-D, closed its doors to make way for the newest Minions attractions, Illuminations Villian-Con Minion Blast. This family friendly attraction will take you to battle your way through the Vicious 6, the supervillains found in the Despicable Me films. The newest blast game is sure to win a spot in your day for a round of family fun! Before leaving, be sure to stop by Evil Stuff, the new storefront for all things, well, evil.

Defeating supervillains will surely work up an appetite. You will find three unique dining experiences to help refuel before heading back into the parks for more fun! Illumination’s Minion Cafe will offer three separate dining areas for guests to experience. The Kitchen, Breakroom, and Dining Room will all have decor inspired by some of the Minions. The cafe’s menu will have something for everyone with almost 20 different varieties of food options. Some of the items that have been named include “Otto’s Noodle Bowl; Agne’s Honeymoon Soup; Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower; Steak & “Cheese Ray” Sandwich.” For dessert, be sure to grab a “Bob’s Teddy Bear Chocolate Cream Puff.” There will also be a kids menu for offerings for the littlest Minion fans.
Bake My Day, the second of the unique dining experiences is another new retail location located inside Minion Land. This shopping area will serve up sweet treats like macaroons and cupcakes, along with some great merchandise featuring the Minions.
What better way to cool down during the summer months than with a popsicle? Pop in to Freeze Ray Pops for a chilly popsicle that has been designed after some of your favorite Despicable Me characters. Maybe you would rather have a snack that you can take with you throughout the day? Pop-A-Nana, a walkup popcorn location could be just the thing! Here you will find the one and only, banana flavored popcorn!
One thing that many people look forward to while visiting the theme parks is character meet and greets! Hugging your favorite character can make an entire visit magical. Also opening soon will be the Illumination Theater. Here you will find some of the beloved Minions along with Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes! But wait! There’s more! Another popular Illuminations film, “Sing,” will have character meet and greets too! Be sure to stop by and say hello to Rosita, Johnny, and Gunter!
