A few years back a beloved show at Walt Disney World closed its doors with no date announcement of reopening. This show had guests of all ages in magical wonder, sadness, and joy all throughout the performance, not to mention the singing and dancing from their seats while flipping their “fins.” This show transports guests under the sea and into the life of a teenage mermaid trying to find her place in the world.
“Voyage of the Little Mermaid” closed its doors on March 15, 2020 and was never reopened with the rest of the parks a few short weeks later. The show originally opened on January 7, 1992 and told the show of the film in live theater.
We now have an official announcement that there will be a show returning to the building! While it is not “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” it will be a performance featuring Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Flounder, and the entire character list! “The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure” is a fully reimagined production as described by Disney and will officially take the stage in the fall of 2024. No official opening date has been announced, but be sure to check back for that information!
Disney Destinations has also announced that with the reimagined show will be new stage sets, effects on screen and off, plus so much more to experience! Disney has also stated that the fan favorite songs like “Part of your World,” “Kiss the Girl,” and the villainous tune of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” will also be a part of the show.
Guests will be able to find this show inside the original building of “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Animation Courtyard Theater.
