Walt Disney World Resort offers so many extras to make your vacation magical. From being dressed up like a princess or a pirate to character meals, there are many ways to put special touches on your trip. If you're bringing a little one with you on your vacation, consider having their haircut for the first time at the Harmony Barbershop at the Magic Kingdom park.
I'm going to be upfront, this has been on my to do list for one of my kids for the past few kids. Timing never lined up right with my 3 older children and so I had to have their first haircuts done at a regular salon at home. I refused to go this route with my 4th and last child. For months her hair has covered her face, with my husband threatening to take her to Great Clips behind my back. I stood firm, wrestled a bow into her hair in a very failed attempt to keep it out of her face, and made our appointment for the Harmony Barbershop months in advance. While they do take walk-ins, those are subject to availability, so reservations are highly recommended.
We arrived at our reservation time and we were immediately taken to the barber chair. The process was so amazingly quick, we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. There are only a few chairs available, which is why reservations are recommended.
The first haircut is a very big to do for a very friendly price. Your little one will be given quite a few toys to keep them occupied while they are sitting in the chair. Having a very busy toddler, I was a bit worried about how well she would sit for the haircut. But between the distractions they gave her and the very swift cast member cutting her hair, it wasn't an issue.
When the haircut is finished, your little one is given their very own set of keepsake ears.
They are also given a certificate to mark the occasion. The hair that was cut is put into a small bag and given to you with the ears.
You get all of this for only $25, which is a great price considering the haircut, ears and certificate, not to mention the magic of having your child's first haircut at Disney, because let's face it, the Magic Kingdom beats Great Clips any day of the week.
I was very happy with our experience at the Harmony Barbershop. They handled my tiny tornado very well, the price wasn't through the roof, the keepsakes were unique and amazing, and my husband can now stop bugging me about the hair in my daughter's face. So if your little one is in need of a trim, consider saving that first cut for your Disney vacation, and do it big at the Harmony Barbershop!
