The Celebrity Edge is one of my favorite ships! It’s the first in the Edge-class series which now includes Edge, Apex, Beyond and Ascent. The Xcel is the 5th ship coming in the fall of 2025.
I stayed in a Veranda Stateroom which had plenty of room for two adults. The Veranda was the perfect place to wind down before going to bed.
During embarkation we enjoyed touring the ship and seeing all that it had to offer. The tour of the spa allowed us to see all their offers and to take advantage of specials during the cruise. The spa has more than 120 treatments including 8 distinct experiences inspired by nature.
As with many cruises, there was plenty of food. The main dining room(s) had different menus each night while the buffet was filled with a great variety of delicious options.
We found the Grand Plaza a great meeting place as well as the perfect pre-dinner location. The bartenders enjoyed putting on a show when making their specialty cocktails. It was a truly beautiful place to linger and enjoy.
After dinner, we’d catch a show at the Theater which ranged from music to theatrical productions and beyond. After that, I’d make my way to one of my favorite spots, Eden. By day it was a brightly lit casual place to relax while at night it had interesting entertainment and creative drinks. Every night there were different performances, many of which could include the guests.
Throughout the ship there were creative pieces of art, sculpture and photo backgrounds. The Rooftop Garden is where you can relax, enjoy live music as well as dining. The Solarium is an adults-only space with a beautiful pool and hot tub. The Magic Carpet is the world’s first floating platform that offers a bar, lounge and dining. You don’t even feel it moving!
Captain Kate McCue was the captain during our sailing. She’s extremely personable and has become known for being the first female ‘Mega’ cruise ship captain. During our sailing she launched a specialty jewelry line specific to the Edge where I was able to meet her in person and to purchase a ring made from leftover steel in a wave pattern inspired by the patterns on the walls of the spa. She also did a “Meet the Captain” presentation where we were able to learn about her journey to her current role and to meet “Bug” her hairless kitty-companion. Today, Captain Kate is the captain of Celebrity Beyond.
