What felt like many many months ago, a new lounge was announced for Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park that is located at Walt Disney World. The lounge, The Beaker and Barrel, is the new addition located to the right of Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. We now have a little history and backstory to the lounge!

A pirate named Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and her parrot first mate, Rummy, created the lounge for other pirates. Rummy is the Quartermaster of the lounge. It has been noted that Rummy resembles the bird that originally sat upon its post in front of the attraction Pirates of the Caribbean. Rummy also is known for creating toasts for guests to enjoy during their visit.
The Mess, or dining type room, offers long tables in the center for groups to gather and share a beverage and laugh. On one of the lounges the bar will be placed. The bar is pieced together with portions of a shipwrecked ship. The stern, in the middle of the bar, is in the shape of a skull. Looking to the sky, there are candles lighting the room with wax dripping.

Then finally, Captains Quarters, which once was a living quarters to a Spanish Comandante. It is not a little worn and artwork may be missing, but still fun. The damage is due to the pirates visiting so there will be tattered and torn drapery and even some missing art work. Among the fireplace guests can spot five glass bottles, each with a mini ship. Keep a close eye on those ships as there may be a bit of magic to them..
