But while so much of the ship felt modern and well thought out, one surprising shortcoming stood out in our stateroom: the outlets. Each room (including the bathroom) has four regular electrical outlets, four USB outlets, and just two USB-C outlets, for a total of ten. On paper that may sound like plenty, but for our group of four it wasn’t quite enough. Between phones, tablets, smartwatches, headphones, and other devices, we constantly found ourselves juggling chargers.

The bigger issue is that only two of those outlets are USB-C. With most new devices switching to USB-C, it felt strange that the majority of the ports were still USB-A, which already feels outdated. A ship as new and innovative as Star of the Seas really should be ahead of the curve when it comes to tech needs.

That said, this was more of an inconvenience than a deal-breaker. We brought along a compact multi-port charger, which made things easier, and the amazing food, entertainment, and overall ship experience far outweighed this one hiccup. Still, for families or groups traveling together, it’s a good reminder to pack extra charging options—because you’ll want your devices ready to capture every moment of this unforgettable cruise.
