Spending a Day in Universal Without Riding Thrill Rides

Did you know that when you are visiting Universal Orlando Resort there is more than just the thrills of the theme park? There is so much for everyone to see and do inside the theme parks and Universal’s CityWalk that you could spend an entire day in one of the parks, not ride one attraction but have a day filled with fun! Let’s find out some of the best ways to spend a day in Universal Orlando Resort, including a few attractions that are not thrill rides but tons of fun!

One entertainment option that is not quite a thrill attraction is The Bourne Stuntacular. This seated show is a perfect break from the summer sun but is full of adventure! Follow Jason Bourne through an “immersive moviegoing experience” as described by Discover Universal Blog.

One activity that the wizards, young and young at heart, can spend countless hours at doing is spell casting between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade. With the purchase of an interactive wand, some of which can now be customized, guests can make the Chocolate Frog box open, a tape measure move, or even make it rain.

Seuss Landing is a magical place. You could be finding a carousel of creatures, a few colorful creatures, and maybe even a cat in a hat. However the one attraction that we always do, The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! is such an adorable attraction. This slow moving train takes you to the sky of Seuss Landing for a ride through some fun scenes. You can also see a lot of Islands of Adventure from up there, and with the perfect timing, some magical views!

One place that most guests zoom by is the Port of Entry. Here you can find quite a few shops and restaurants. Grab a coffee or treat for yourself and take a few moments to look around. The area itself is gorgeous and full of details. It will also take you right out to the waterfront which is a great place to regroup and take a few moments away from the hustle and bustle of the park.

If you are not attending the parks, but looking to spend some time at Universal Orlando, Hollywood Drive-In Golf is located inside of Universal’s CityWalk. There are two 18-hole courses available to choose from, or you can do a “double feature” and do both! The theme of the mini golf course is 50s sci-fi, but it is absolutely a family friendly activity.

Another family fun activity is bowling which can be found at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort! Galaxy Bowl, and the entire resort really, takes you back with the retro theme throughout.

Then there is also the option to skip all of the thrills and excitement of the parks and head to Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and treat yourself to a little relaxation at the Mandara Spa. The spa offers 14 treatment rooms, co-ed lounge and hydro pool, separate sauna and steam rooms, plus a full service salon!
