Specialty Dining on Independence of the Seas

By:  Jessica Bomberg, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

All Royal Caribbean Cruise ships offer specialty dining options as alternatives to the main dining rooms and buffets. On the Independence of the Seas, there are 7 specialty dining options. I am excited to highlight a few for our readers.

Fish & Ships

Calling all fried food lovers looking for a quick bite by the pool! Try the fish & chips, lobster roll, batter sausage or deep-friend candy bar at Fish & Ships on Deck 11. Prices range from $2-$7.

Johnny Rockets

Who hasn’t been to a Johnny Rockets? I bet you’ve never been to one on a ship! The Johnny Rockets on Independence of the Seas is located on Deck 12 where booths line the deck railing, giving you the perfect spot to enjoy your onion rings, tuna melt or burger. For just $6.95 per person you can eat all you want! (Milkshakes, ice cream, soda and alcohol not included.)

Izumi Hibachi & Sushi

I love hibachi restaurants and Izumi Hibachi & Sushi does not disappoint! It’s dinner and a show. Every meal starts with the green mix salad and vegetable fried rice. Teppanyaki choices vary in cost – chicken breast, beef tenderloin and tiger shrimp are $45.99 each and combos of those three or scallops and lobster are $49.99. Your price also includes dessert! An assortment of rolls, sushi and sashimi are also available a la carte. Prices range from $13-$17.

Giovanni’s Table and Chop’s Grille

Giovanni’s Table and Chop’s Grille both offer upscale prix fixe menus available for lunch and dinner. At Giovanni’s Table you can enjoy 5 courses of rustic, Italian fare like house-made focaccia served with marinated artichokes, olives, and pesto or Slow-roasted pork belly with apple and watercress salad for just one cost. Lunch is just $15 per person and dinner is $25 per person. Chop’s Grille is Royal Caribbean’s signature steakhouse, offering classics like Tuna Tartare, The Wedge salad and Petite Filet with your choice of sauce. Lunch is $19 per person and dinner is $35 per person. Plus, both restaurants offer kids menus. If you’re celebrating something special while onboard, I recommend either of these restaurants!

Chef’s Table

If you’re looking for something really special, Chef’s Table is an exclusive, VIP dining experience that is available only on select sailings. The ship’s Chef de Cuisine will guide you through a prix fixe menu of 5-7 courses – all paired with the perfect wine. The location of Chef’s Table is different on every ship and no two experiences are the same.

You can save up to 40% when you add a specialty dining package onto your next cruise. Reservations for specialty dining restaurants can be made once you board the ship through the app, with a specialty dining representative on embarkation day (you’ll see them in several places on the ship that day), or at each restaurant. The most popular restaurants will book up so make a plan before you board and be ready to grab your reservations! And the longer you cruise, the more time you’ll have to try it all! Be sure to ask your travel agent for more info.
