Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is not a port where you can hop on and off the ship at your leisure. Disney put a lot of effort into conservation, which included building a dock farther from the island. This in turn though, adds some extra prep for guests.

Once you disembark the ship, you will have a .5 mile walk to the first check point on the island. This took us around 12 minutes. Keep in mind, it is TOTALLY worth it!
pro tip - apply your sunscreen before heading out! There is no shade on this walk. With young kids you may want to consider bringing a stroller/wagon also.

Once you get to the end of the pier you will go find your first stop to get merch, family cabanas and of course the tram stop. The tram was constantly running and they had multiple making the loop. We were a little worried about how lines would get since there isn’t a walking option to get to the other side of the island. It was however quick to get a seat onboard the tram. From there it took us roughly 15 minutes to get to the rest of the destination.

Once you arrive to the other side, everything is close by. The first thing you will come across is the gathering tree. This is where you will meet for excursions, pay attention to the details! It is absolutely adorable.
Within a short walk this is where you will find the beach, shopping, snorkeling, food and everything else you could possibly need for a great day in the Bahamas!

It took us with photo stops of course, 45 minutes to get from the ship to the main part of the island. Once you are over there however, and see how much they did to preserve the natural beauty. It all makes sense!
