There are beautiful resorts… and then there are resorts that stay with you.
Sandals Royal Curaçao is one of those places I still think about long after I’ve unpacked my suitcase. It feels modern and open, but also warm and welcoming. It’s the perfect blend of romance, culture, entertainment, and adventure.

If you are considering Sandals Royal Curaçao for your honeymoon, anniversary, or couples getaway, here is what truly makes it special.
The first thing that grabs you is the two-level Dos Awa infinity pool. It stretches toward the turquoise waters and feels almost endless. In the morning, it is peaceful & quiet to enjoy a freshly brewed blue mountain coffee. By afternoon, it has a social energy without ever feeling too loud. But if you want to get in a good game of pool trivia or some volleyball Leon the playmaker will be ready for you to join!

I found myself relaxing there a bit longer than planned, floating on the provided floats, watching boats in the distance, and feeling completely relaxed. If you love a resort where the pool is just as important to you as the beach, this is it.The views really can’t be beat.

As the golden hour hits, Sandals Royal Curaçao shifts into something softer and more romantic. There’s a beautiful backdrop as the sun sets and fire pits glow, the breeze cools slightly, and the entire resort feels intimate. I loved how many quiet places we could lounge to watch the sunset over the ocean.

You can grab a cocktail and sit by the water hearing live music through the courtyard. It never felt like a party scene but if you wanted to dance you could sure find a spot to.
The courtyard and lobby bar bring just enough energy each evening. Some nights feature live music. Other nights offer cultural performances or dancing under the stars. A popular event among guests is the silent disco party. You can watch everyone dance but have no idea what’s playing in their ears! Love Karaoke? You can do that too!
It is lively, but not overwhelming. You can be part of the fun or step away and enjoy a quieter moment down by the beach or around one of the many fire pits around the property. That balance is something Sandals Royal Curaçao does exceptionally well.

One of the most unique touches at Sandals Royal Curaçao is the gourmet food truck experience. Instead of a traditional poolside food you will find elevated casual bites and local flavors served in a relaxed, open-air setting right next to the beach. We loved the Island smash burger from Toteki and could have had one every day!

Dinner at Butch’s Island Chop House is a highlight. Start off enjoying a warm goat cheese and poached pear salad…the combination with the vinaigrette makes it so unique. The surf and turf with filet mignon and grilled Caribbean lobster was excellent, but what I still remember is the espresso martini. Go see John- Phillipe at the bar he makes the best ones! It was smooth, balanced, and exactly what you want in a pre dinner cocktail and before heading back out for the evening.

Don’t skip out on Alotos a beautiful Greek inspired restaurant atop the hills overlooking a beautiful Oceanview. It’s open for breakfast as well and it was the perfect spot to listen to the birds and watch the waves crash while enjoying some blueberry pancakes.
Those with a sweet tooth and wine & cheese lovers also must try Kanaal where you can grab a fresh brewed latte, sweet treats like donuts and danishes or perfectly paired wine and cheese samples to take back to your room or enjoy by the pool or beach.
If you want more than just pool and beach time, Curaçao delivers great adventure.
Guests at Sandals Royal Curaçao have access to the nearby Old Quarry Golf Course, that sits right to the left of the resort known for its breath taking ocean views. It is a beautiful and challenging course for those who enjoy golf on vacation.
The snorkeling is also fantastic. The water is clear and calm, and marine life is vibrant. Certified divers can take advantage of included scuba diving twice per day which is one of the hidden gems of visiting Curaçao, we were only in the water a few minutes before spotting a green sea turtle and so many different schools of fish. The reefs here are impressive and less crowded than some other Caribbean islands.
One of my top recommendations for guests staying at Sandals Royal Curaçao is to take a walking tour of Willemstad. You can book this experience ahead of time with your marvelous mouse travel agent.
The colorful Dutch-Caribbean buildings, the floating Queen Emma Bridge, and the small cafés give you a deeper connection to the island. It is charming, photogenic, and adds cultural richness to your vacation. There was a variety of shopping opportunities from souvenirs to clothing. Had I brought an extra suitcase I would have done so much more shopping!
Curaçao is more than just a beach destination. Exploring Willemstad proves that there’s beauty even in the art and rich history is all around.
