Sailing Royal Caribbean for the first time is a journey filled with adventure and excitement. It also promises breathtaking destinations, plus an array of experiences that combine relaxation, entertainment, and some really great food and drinks.
With over 25 ships to choose from, each with its own unique features, you will not be short on options. When stepping aboard, the sheer grandeur of the ship takes one’s breath away. Many of Royal Caribbean's vessels have features reminiscent of a floating city, complete with themed neighborhoods, state-of-the-art amenities, and world-class entertainment. From the shimmering pools, waterslides, and luxurious spas to the rock-climbing walls and surf simulators, each area invites exploration. As a first-time cruiser you’ll probably feel a child. Running here and there trying to discover everything the ship has to offer.
On embarkation day plan to arrive early to make the most of your day. The check-in process is smooth, and once onboard you can go straight to the buffet or start exploring the ship to familiarize yourself with the layout. Be sure to grab your suits in a small bag if you want to take advantage of the pools right away. Also be sure to head to the Adventure Ocean and let any children sailors check out the kids clubs, or teens and sign them up for some fun. You can also head over to the arcade, or check out laser tag times on the app and sign up.
If you didn’t feel like hitting the buffet, have no worries there are a range of dining experiences from casual eateries to upscale restaurants to choose from. Definitely consider making reservations at unique spots like Chops Grille or Izumi. For some theatrics with your meal you could even choose options like Wonderland or Royal Railway depending on your ship. There is always a great slice of pizza to be had. Multi-course meals are always available as well in the Main Dining room. The culinary options can be overwhelming in the best way possible.
Your first day, if you haven’t already done so at check in or on the app, is a great time to book some of the Broadway- Style shows or map out times for activities such as rock climbing, the escape rooms, and add plans to your app with games, quizzes, and specific parties like the sail away party. Be sure to check out any fun themed nights as well.
If your cruise takes you to one of Royal Caribbean’s private islands (Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas or Labadee in Haiti) do not miss getting off the ship and exploring all the possibilities for whatever you’re looking for. Thrills or chill, both islands have it all. Any other port days you have the option to get off and explore or stay on the ship and relax, possibly even a little less crowded.
