Rain at Epic Universe? No Problem!

April showers bring May flowers, but May also brings the summer storms into Florida. Generally speaking, guests can expect a quick rain or storm in the afternoon while visiting the theme parks during the summer months. However, some days Mother Nature just gives us a little extra rain in the day.

This could put a damper on the day when you are planning to visit the theme parks, and I unfortunately was at Universal Epic Universe during my only preview day when it rained half of the day. On the other hand, I am fortunate enough to know that I have plans to visit again later this year, but as a travel planner I know to make the best of my day, rain or shine, which is exactly what I hope you do if you get caught in the rain at Epic Universe.

So the big question is, what is there to do at Universal Epic Universe during the rain? SO MUCH! Grab a poncho and keep moving, let’s see what there is to get into during a rainy day.

Of course there is shopping. Each world does offer quite a bit of shopping, but some of the attractions, and entertainment options could still be open during a rainy day in the park.

Celestial Park offers quite a bit with the Epic Universe and all other worlds merchandise, sort of like a one stop shop. Other Worlds Mercantile and Sensorium Emporium will be the place for all things Epic Universe. North Star Wintry Wonders has your holiday decor. Nintendo Super Star Store is right outside of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and holds apparel, toys, and other souvenirs. Sweet treats can be found at Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets. On the attraction side, Constellation Carousel is undercover as well as most of its queue.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, which you could spend all day playing interactive games, has three shopping areas. 1-UP Factory has hats, plush toys, apparel, and so much more. Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy is an open air market, while Mario Motors offers gear and a personal Golden Cup to commemorate your visit. Mine-Cart Madness and Yoshi’s Adventure both are partially outdoors, so there may be delays for these attractions, however Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is fully indoors!

Rain at Epic Universe? No Problem!

Stepping into Dark Universe, has three shops and one experience. I have seen wonderful makeup come from the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience, however a rainy day might not be my first choice of days to have it done. Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities and The Manor Storehouse is the perfect place to find your dark souvenir to return home with. The Guild of Mystics is a wagon that sells t-shirts and hand-crafted jewelry, but hours may be subject to change due to weather conditions. Curse of the Werewolf will likely be delayed due to weather, but Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment was open all day since a majority of the queue is inside.

A very popular location to head in the park is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic. Between wands, confectionaries, memorabilia, school gear, and Metro Floo souvenirs, guests could pop in and out of shops all day! One attraction and one entertainment option are also inside this world. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry is said to have a queue that can hold for up to seven hours, which I have walked through and the turns were endless! Le Cirque Arcanus is the one entertainment option inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, and it is a must see! This show runs on a time schedule, so be sure to arrive early to line up. If you’re willing to brave the rain, casting spells throughout the area can be so much fun! The second generation wands and the new app take casting spells to an entirely new level!

One last stop at Universal Epic Universe is How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk! While the attractions are outside, causing delays during a storm, The Untrainable Dragon is a must see show! Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless, and more characters take the stage when a new dragon arrives. As far as shopping, of course there are many options, but the one most adorable location offers the adoption of your very own dragon! To adopt a dragon, visit Toothless’ Treasure. Hiccups Work Shop and Viking Traders have viking gear and other apparel. How to Treat Your Dragon is the perfect place for a sweet treat.

I know it is hard to look on the bright side when your vacation has some rain in the forecast.
