Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Puerto Plata is the ninth largest city in the Dominican Republic. It is also the capital of the province of Puerto Plata. A fun fact that I learned is that Puerto Plata is the kiteboarding and windsurfing capital of the Caribbean!

When you first disembark, you arrive at Taino Bay.

The beautiful port of Taino Bay has something for everyone! It just depends on your mood!

They’ve got shops, a restaurant, bars, a pool, and even MONKEYS!!!  If you want to just take it easy in Puerto Plata, you may want to visit the pool complete with in-water loungers and a swim-up bar!. There are several other spots where you can enjoy your favorite tropical cocktail- or maybe find a new favorite!! 

And yes, I mentioned MONKEYS….in Taino Bay, they have a 30 minute experience that allows you to be surrounded by and feed adorable Squirrel Monkeys!!  I highly recommend this experience!! (Runners Adventures-Puerto Plata).  They also offer more extensive experiences (4+hours) and Excursions to Monkeyland which is further inland.
