If you have been to Disneyland Resort in the last year, you may have noticed a bit of construction all over the place. While it really has not taken away from the magic, it definitely is adding more magic to the parks and resorts! With this, the official opening of Pixar Place Hotel has come. From the lobby, the 479 rooms, and even the pools, there are fun Pixar characters everywhere!
During the opening ceremony there were Pixar characters there to help celebrate the dedication day! Some of those characters include Lightning McQueen, Mater, Bing Bong, and Joy! Along with the characters, the President, Ken Potrock, and Pixar Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter, were also in attendance. Ken Potrock mentioned during the ceremony that Pixar Place Hotel is the creation of great guest experiences and popular Pixar stories all together in one place.
Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter said “At Pixar, our mission is to tell great stories. And nothing is more exciting that when we see those stories come to life in Disney Parks. Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort is the perfect example - it’s like walking into a world of Pixar.” This makes a huge difference between staying on property and at a Good Neighbor Hotel in my opinion.
Speaking of stories coming to life, Bing Bong from the Pixar film “Inside Out” was at the ceremony, as mentioned before, but this is the first time he was seen at any Disney property! He will continue to greet guests at the Pixar Place Hotel. Also found at Pixar Place Hotel greeting guests is Joe from the Pixar film “Soul.” Joe will be playing his piano near the staircase in the hotel lobby with the surrounding area feeling very jazzy with the deep purple walls and art on the walls of jazz musicians.
When entering the hotel, guests are greeted by the larger than life Pixar Ball and Lamp! If you look up there are floating Pixar characters all around, and even Carl and Ellie’s house from “Up.” Throughout the rest of the lobby, you will see walls lines with photos from different Pixar films, character silhouettes on the floors, and music from the films playing.
We have chatted about Great Maple in a few other blogs, be sure to check those out for that information. We now have a new little grab and go location of The Sketch Pad Cafe. Here guests will find a full espresso bar, pastries, sandwiches, and little snacks.
Heading up to the roof top, guests will find Pixar Shorts Court. Guests of all ages will enjoy games that have been inspired by the shorts created by the animation studios. Also on the rooftop will be another small option for quick eats. Small Bytes will offer soft pretzels, nachos, and small items like that. While in the area, check out the loungers by the fun fire pits.
A fun pool area for the family is also nearby. Nemo’s Cove, a splash pad and waterslide. Right next to the splash pad is Pixel Pool where you can swim, lounge or even rent a daybed and cabana.
The newly renovated rooms have also been available for your next Disneyland vacation! The Pixar Lamp can be found on the workspace, elongated Pixar Ball throw pillows on the beds, and the headboards cover the entire back wall is filled with Pixar characters!
While most of the resort has been completed, there is still some small construction finishing up. This includes a new Creators Club lounge. This will only be available for concierge level guests. New 2-bedroom signature suites will also be available for later arrivals in 2024. There will be two themes, Coco and Incredibles.
