Hello fellow Disney Parks enthusiast! Some of my personal favorite activities has fully returned to the parks! Pin trading! If you’ve never participated in pin trading or maybe new to it, let’s start with a few basics. Pin trading is when guests bring or purchase pin packs (online, in the parks, resorts, etc). One thing to be on the lookout for is fake pins, you do not want those in the rotation of pins you are trading for. The mystery pin sets are the best option to get started for trading, in my opinion. They offer multiple pins at a great price, and you can trade for pins you like with the pins you do not wish to keep for your collection. Pin trading is a pretty simple concept, you take one, you give one.
In the parks there are a few ways to trade. First you can trade with other guests! There are always a ton of guests walking around with lanyards, backpacks, and even binders full of pins. Sometimes they are just collectors sharing their collection for others to see, and sometimes they are there to trade, just ask!
The next way to trade is with the pin boards. Select locations around the parks and in merchandise stores will have pins displayed on boards. Generally the rule of thumb is you can trade two pins per person.
Another way to trade is for mystery pins! You will see boxes with numbers, you select the number you wish to trade for, and the cast member will pull the corresponding box and trade for it with one of your pins. This type of trading is not as easily found as the other options, but it’s really fun!
Finally, the exciting news for the week, pin trading with cast members “Cast-to-Guest” is finally back! This means that Disney Cast Members will return to wearing lanyards and packs and able to trade with guests. This pin trading ceased during the pandemic for health and safety reasons. During this time, there still was pin trading but in a different fashion. Guests would place the pin they wish to trade in a container of some sort to be cleaned and the cast member would pull the pin from the board you wanted in return.
Did you know that there are exclusive pins that can only be found for trading with Disney cast members? These pins will be from new Hidden Disney pin sets. Each set will be made of five different pins and a finisher pin called a “chaser” pin. Be on the lookout for those pins, they will be hard to find!
