By this point of the year, we all know that Universal Epic Universe will be opening shortly, and it’s what everyone is talking about. Each week, Universal Orlando Resorts is also slowly providing more and more exciting information about facts, details, and glimpses of what we can expect to see when the park opens on May 22, 2025. We now have a new information tidbit that will have you practicing your spells like your heading back to Hogwarts in the Fall.
A brand new, Second Generation, Wizarding World of Harry Potter Wand has been released! Yes, on March 1, 2025 the new wands were placed for sale at Universal Studios Orlando where The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley is located and Universal’s Islands of Adventure where The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Hogsmeade is located. Then when Universal Epic Universe welcomes guest on May 22, 2025, the wands will also be available for purchase inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Ministry of Magic.
The second-generation wands will introduce illumination capabilities and even haptic vibrations that are different with each spell. The next exciting announcement regarding the new wands is the Universal Play, here guests can unlock more magic with their Universal Orlando Resort app. From the sounds of it, it will resemble the Power Up band technology like inside the SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. But with the wands you will earn points for your Hogwarts House and be able to unlock exclusive adventures. Plus, there will be five brand new locations to cast spells between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. There will be a daily leaderboard for wizards that are participating in the spell casting.

The app will also provide new features like a digital map of the spell casting locations for all three parks. Guests can also customize their profile inside the Universal Play app with their Wizard name, avatar, Hogwarts House, and select your own Patronus.
This was not something I was expecting so soon! With our last visit, we were told to be on the lookout for updates coming to the parks with Epic, but I was not expecting a new interactive section of the app, brand new wands, and even more spell locations in the parks!
