As spring has turned to summer, many things have changed in Walt Disney World. The summer vacation crowds begin to grow, the heat becomes a little more intense, and the summer food variations are introduced! The new flavorful menu for summer has been introduced around the parks.
The resorts have also seen a new upgrade to the summer food menu as well. At many of the Disney Value Resorts and Disney Moderate Resorts, there is a new burger in town. The IMPOSSIBLE Burger with a Korean barbecue twist. Also joining the menu is a new planted based dessert, a chocolate cupcake with a blue and white buttercream frosting swirl and colorful sprinkles!
All three of the Disney All Star Resorts, plus Disney’s Pop Century Resort are gaining a new menu item. First up is the new Cuban Burger, and it will have your mouth dancing the night away with the pickled pepper relish, cheese, ham, and bun! Another new burger, named the Bases Loaded Burger will also be joining the menu towards the end of June. This burger will be topped with an onion ring, beer-cheese sauce, and bacon jam! Can you guess which resorts will be serving up these two new burgers?
One park based restaurant in particular, Le Cellier Steakhouse, has added a few new appetizers and two new entrees to their menu over the past few weeks. Le Cellier Steakhouse is located inside EPCOT, in the Canada pavilion. Jump Chilled Shrimp, Mushroom Bisque, and Green Onion & Garlic Canadian Cove Mussels are the newest additions to the steakhouse menu for the season. The plant based menu also has seen some new items! Now being offered is The Fried Cauliflower and Canadian Tourtiere. There are also two new main entree choices; Grilled Scallops and Prime Steak Tartare “Kibbeh Nayeh ''. The new steak option is served with radish, mint, and a fantastic garlic aioli while the scallop dish comes with caviar, and a zucchini fritter topped with a piquillo sauce.
Looking for something on the sweet side? Be sure to check out the upcoming cookie release, these will be available for purchase beginning June 1, 2023! Designed to look like a summertime staple, hot dogs and french fries with a side of “ketchup,” which is actually a raspberry sauce. Also recently revealed are two new ice cream sundaes at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. These adorable desserts are crafted to look like our pals Mickey and Minnie. One has brownies in the bottom of the cup, with a swirl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, topped with Mickey shaped sprinkles and chocolate “ears”. The second has a base layer of strawberry sauce, vanilla soft serve ice cream, also with chocolate “ears” and a beautiful red chocolate bow!
If you’re heading into Disney’s Animal Kingdom, stop by Flame Tree Barbecue for the return of the Sample Platter featuring ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. Once you’re ready for dessert, grab the newest ice cream sandwich. The Dino Dig Ice Cream Sandwich has a scoop of vanilla ice cream squished between two sugar cookies and topped with a chocolate dinosaur.
If you’re doing a little resort hopping during your stay, which I highly recommend doing, there are a few other resorts offering some new refreshing treats. Disney’s BoardWalk has a new Strawberry Shortcake Croissant, and Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will have a decadent Summer Berry Shortcake beginning June 1, 2023!
For the adults looking for a way to sit back with a refreshing beverage, I suggest the new margarita flight at Geyser Point Bar & Grill located inside Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The flight includes cucumber melon, raspberry, black cherry, and a spicy pineapple margaritas! The margaritas at Geyser Point Bar & Grill have never disappointed, and I’m sure this flight will not either.
