Wondering if Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas is a good ship for kids? Let me tell you that the answer is “YES”! Whether you’re looking for swimming and water slides, arcade games, golf, basketball, ice skating (yes, ice!) or sweet treats and MORE, this ship has it all!!
An obvious and probably the most popular spot for kids are the pools and water slides, where you will find something for every age group. From splash pad fountains to thrilling water slides, kids will have a blast soaking up the sun in their swimsuits. You can even practice your surf skills on the FlowRider surf simulator!!! How amazing to be surfing on a ship with a view of the Caribbean waters? While these activities are targeted for the kids, the whole family is sure to enjoy!
Looking for sports? How about a mini golf course? Or how about a little one on one on the basketball court? Feel like rock climbing? Independence of the Seas has it all! Get ready for some jaws to drop when the kids see these amazing activities available for them on this ship. While I personally didn’t climb the wall, I can only imagine what the view is like from the top. The mini golf area is the perfect spot to work on your putting, while the kids have a ball.
Looking for some indoor fun? This ship has an amazing arcade, and an ice skating rink! This arcade is what kids (and possibly some adults) dream of. From old school to new school, they have something for everyone! And how cool is it to have an ice skating rink on the ship? I couldn’t believe it until I saw it, and it was just as amazing as it would seem!
If you’re looking for alone time without the kids after a thrilling day of activities, head on over to Adventure Ocean. The kids ages 3-11 will be supervised and have some time to interact and play games/activities with other kids in their age range. Kids are split into three groups: Tiny Travelers (ages 3-5), Explorers (ages 6-8) and Voyagers (ages 9-11). You won’t need to worry about having some alone time to yourselves because the kids will be having a blast!

When you pick them up, it’ll be a time for dessert! Stop by Sugar Beach, Ben and Jerry’s or even Wind Jammer for a sweet treat to top of the night. Even as an adult, let me tell you, that you will have a hard time limiting the sweets. There are so many options, and they are DELISH!!!
Repeat the days as you’d like or mix them up entirely. It will be hard to decide which activities to head to each day, and you’ll want to do them all!
