It sounds a lot harder than it actually is. First things first…you are not going to lose all your progress in the short period of time you will be on vacation! So, it is totally okay to have a few treats, or enjoy that fantastic dinner because Disney has amazing food so don’t miss out! In 2016 I was prepping for a body building show and went to Disney with my family. If anyone knows about bodybuilding diet is a huge piece. No, not everyone is going to have this goal, but this is my experience with how you can do this in Disney!
First things first…if there are supplements you take regularly bring them with you! Put your powders and vitamins in Ziploc bags and put them inside a shaker bottle in your suitcase just to make sure they don’t spill on your belongings. Next bring a water bottle you can refill each day. Making sure you are staying hydrated is HUGE! The heat, walking, different foods can do a number on your body and being hydrated will make this a little easier.
When it comes to eating in the parks this goes not only for those watching what they eat but even those with dietary needs. You can always speak with chef, cook, server to ask for your food to be prepared a specific way and they are more than willing to help and make any substitutions you need. There were many instances where I substituted breaded chicken for shrimp or grilled chicken, and they had no issues with helping that. Sometimes I just ordered a bunch of side dishes to eat but not over do it and all wait staff was absolutely amazing. Disney has many options on menus that are deemed “healthy choice” items.
Exercise. You will get plenty! As a personal trainer I found many ways to get resistance training in with little to no equipment available. With that being said the deluxe resorts have gyms as does Coronado Springs resort. But you will get plenty of cardio in walking through the parks and you may not even realize it! Keep an eye on your FitBit or smart watch and those steps will add up quick. Another option is to use YouTube for body weight or resistance loop workouts. I always pack my resistance loops whenever I travel. They are small and easy to fit into your suitcase. Disney resorts have great trails and pathways for running too! Some resorts even have signs that indicate how far and what route to take to reach that distance.

When you spend so much time working to reach your goals it can be added stress to be out of your routine, but there are ways to stay on track and still enjoy everything about your trip. Whether you swim laps at the pool, take advantage of running trails, or just enjoy your coffee walking around the resort you can still stay active while on vacation.
The main takeaway is to not feel uncomfortable enjoying yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask for changes to a meal you would like or take a few minutes to get a quick ab circuit in before you hit the parks. Do what feels right for you and enjoy the magic you can add in! Stay healthy and have fun!
