Over the last year Epcot has seen some changes throughout the park. Much of Future World has been undergoing a facelift with some new experiences, changes to dining and interactive areas. One of the largest pieces completed not too long ago was the additions of the Guardian’s of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction! This ride is like no other from the unique track to music from the movie guests will be looking to ride this again and again! Guests can then head on over to the Creations shop where they can find a plethora of merchandise and souvenirs for everyone! But that’s not all the changes that are being made. During World Princess Week many different things have been happening in the parks. Today the exciting news is a first look at details regarding Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

This attraction coming to Epcot is starting to really take shape. The Walt Disney Imagineering team and crew of artisans have begun sculpting the rock work on the immersive exploration trail. Journey of Water is for guests of all ages to see how water travels from the skies to the oceans and back again. The team really captured the beauty of the natural water cycle within the attraction. Moana as seen in her animated feature has a bond with water as well as a determination to protect the environment and this experience really shows that!

Fans of the animated film will be thrilled to see shapes and characters carved into the rocks and waterways throughout Journey of Water. The most iconic will be Moana who will be positioned to welcome the celebration of water to our oceans. During the design process Imagineers make models to bring characters and stories into the parks in unique ways. After the characters pose is defined, the sculptors are detail and textures until the full express of the character is captured. The next step is a paint study to create a full scale of samples to test the final materials and carving techniques needed. This process makes sure the production and creative vision for the experience align.
Imagineers use the details to tell the stories. From paint to foliage guests will be able to see the stages of the process and how they came together to create such a beautiful attraction. When everything is completed Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will be brought to life within World Nature – the EPCOT neighborhood. And Moana is a great role model to inspire us to protect and conserve water through this amazing attraction.
