In 2022, Walt Disney World announced that the Disney Polynesian Village Resort would begin construction to add a new tower, specifically a Disney Vacation Club tower. Construction has then started, and will be completed later this year, 2024. Let’s check out some of the details recently released from Disney Destinations regarding the brand new tower.

The official name is the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The tower will be 10-story in height which will overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon. While the Island Tower is not connected to the monorail system, the main Disney Polynesian Village Resort building is and is within a quick walking distance to the tower. There is also water transportation available at the resort.
Disney Destinations noted that the original concept of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was centered around a tower, which now will be complete the idea of those Disney Imagineers.
Island Tower will also expand on the theme of the newly refurbished rooms at the main resort, Moana. The Polynesian tattoo designs are brought into the design of the tower as soon as guests step foot in the resort. The main focal point is a Manta Ray. The Manta Ray represents freedom, protection, and grace. There are also Moana characters hidden throughout the theming.
All of the artwork throughout the tower is unique and created by artists from around the world. Items like fishing nets and moss are recycled and preserved then used in the decoration of the resort.
There will be a variety of room types available to guests to reserve. Some of those rooms will have the ability to sleep up to nine guests! There will also be a brand new two-bedroom penthouse villa category.
