For years people have flocked to Orlando to visit Walt Disney World each summer to experience the magic while their children are out of school for the summer. It has always been known as one of the most popular times to visit the parks. And with good reason! However, I would venture to say that it may not be the most popular time anymore and for that very reason I think it is the best time to visit Walt Disney World! There are actually several reasons that make summer the best time to visit Disney World.
For the last few years Walt Disney World has offered some pretty phenomenal savings packages for summer travel dates. We have seen discounted rooms, free dining and more. With cooler weather dates becoming more and more popular Disney has really made it more affordable to keep families in the parks each summer. Walt Disney World is home to the four major theme parks but did you know there are also two different water parks on property? For example, the resort pools are some of the most fun pools you can find at any resort. Beach and Yacht Club resorts have what we would call the best pools on Disney property. There are actually four different swimming areas shared at these resorts. You can find 3 leisure pools and one three acre waterpark area known as Stormalong Bay. Included in this area is a sand-bottomed pool, a giant shipwreck replica, a 230 foot long water slide, lazy river and three whirlpool spas. And with the warm Florida temperatures, this area can be best enjoyed in the summer. Other resorts with notable pools are Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Port Orleans Riverside.
There are always fun things happening throughout the year at Walt Disney World and some of the best seasonal events happen during the summer. In early summer you can enjoy one of the most beautiful festivals in Epcot, the International Flower and Garden Festival. This festival is technically in spring but lasts through the end of May. And toward the end of summer Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival begins around August each year.
Disney Springs also usually hosts Flavors of Florida each summer. In 2024 this festival that celebrates the tasty foods and drinks inspired by Florida takes place July through August. What we love about this event is that it is celebrated in Disney Springs and that means there is no need to buy a park ticket to enjoy it! A variety of dining venues have specialty menu items that highlight the flavors that are unique to Florida.
With summer becoming what seems more like the slow season at Walt Disney World, there can often be discounts. For example, this summer Disney offered the $99 magic ticket. This special promotion just for the summer allowed guests to enter the parks for as little as $99 per day! When demand is lower there will be special discounts like this. For guests looking to visit Disney on a budget the summer can be the perfect option.
