Vacations are a great way to escape reality and try new adventures and cuisines. At times its hard to stay on track and make wise choices. Although it can be challenging to stay on track, it is possible while also enjoying your cuisine and vacation.
These five tips can help you maintain a balanced diet so you return with memories not extra pounds.
1. Bring your own snacks
Pack travel- ready easy snacks for the day(s) of traveling to keep you from buying junk food on the road. Examples such as pretzels, cheese sticks, peanut better single serves with veggies or hummus.
2. Avoid the mini-bar
You know that cute little refrigerator in your hotel room packed with goodies? Don’t touch them! Not only will you save money on overly-priced snacks but you can stock it with snacks you brought or that you bought locally.

3. Eat breakfast
Don’t skip the most important meal of the day! If staying somewhere that serves breakfast, eat a meal filled with grains (whole-wheat), protein such as eggs, and a small serving of fruit.
4. Walk Everywhere
Are you staying on the 3rd floor? Try to use the stairs, stroll museums, the city, or the beach to get your steps in!
5. Try local Restaurants
Avoid fast food at any cost! Trying local restaurants, you can typically count on less processed foods and healthier side options. Don’t be afraid to share a meal or take a to-go box.
Most importantly have fun and don’t forget a cheat meal!
