The company that created Hello Kitty, Sanrio, has been in business since the 1960’s. This Japanese lifestyle brand has created so many adored characters throughout the years, including all of Hello Kitty’s friends! Characters like Keroppi, My Melody, Kuromi, and so many more have debuted since the creation of the Hello Kitty brand, over 450 friends actually! But the one is very well known, Hello Kitty, and the newest addition to Universal CityWalk Hollywood.
One of Hello Kitty’s favorite hobbies include baking cookies when she is not inside Universal Studios Hollywood greeting guests, so it only makes sense that she opens a new bakery filled with tasty treats and fun filled drinks! As you stroll through Universal CityWalk Hollywood, the vibrant Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe is an eye-catching gem that simply can't be missed! With its cheerful pink and white decor, this charming cafe invites guests into a whimsical world filled with the iconic Sanrio character inspired food and beverage options.
First let’s look into the beverage menu. From the look of Discover Universal Blog, it looks like all of the beverages will be served in an adorable clear plastic cup, with the iconic face of Hello Kitty and a vibrant pink straw. The menu itself will offer teas, lemonades, coffees, and matcha all inspired by the beloved characters.

The cute frog Keroppi has the Keroppi Matcha Latte which is made as a frozen matcha latte that is topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of matcha powder. A Chococat Frozen Mocha is designed after Chococat and crafted with a frozen coffee that includes chocolate popping boba then finalized with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. The next adorable menu item is a blue raspberry lemonade created for the character Tuxedosam. The Kuromi Berry Iced Tea is designed after Kuromi if you didn’t guess. A Blackberry tea is topped off with blackberry and mint but also features a purple sugar rim on the cup.
With the new cafe comes new offerings which will be on a rotational menu. Again the mousse cakes are crafted with inspiration from Sanrio friends, so we know they will be adorable and tasty! There will be three mousse cakes on the menu, one will be a regular and the other two will be the rotational options. There will be twelve total mousse cakes to rotate through, so there is a chance you would have the opportunity to try a different option for quite a few visits. One will leave each month to make room for a new option. The Hello Kitty Mouse Dome, which will actually be a regular on the menu, will be red in color for Hello Kitty’s bow, filled with a cinnamon mousse with apple pie filling, and the base of cinnamon streusel. The two current rotational options are a Kuromo Mousse Dome and Chococat Mousse Dome. The Chococat Mousse Dome is a chocolate mousse with peanut butter ganache and some chocolate crisp pearls. The Kuromo Mousse Dome is quite the opposite in color with a purple coloring with ube mousse. It also features white chocolate ganache and a chocolate sponge cake base.
The remaining menu at Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe is a delightful treat for the senses, showcasing a variety of tempting sweets. Indulge in a selection of exquisite cakes, including the light and refreshing Strawberry Cake, the festive Birthday Cake, and the rich Chocolate Cake—each a perfect way to celebrate any occasion. One item that’s caught my eye is the Berry & Cream Churro, a delicious twist on a classic treat, filled with a burst of berries and served alongside a luscious cream cheese frosting for dipping. And for those with a penchant for French pastries, the Macaron set is a must-try, featuring an array of enticing flavors like raspberry, caramel, pistachio, chocolate, and vanilla
