Great Stirrup Cay - Norwegian Cruise Line's Private Island

By:  Kellie Ainsworth, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

Did you know that Norwegian Cruise Line has its own private island, called Great Stirrup Cay?  It is described as “an idyllic private island paradise” and after my recent NCL experience, I can  confirm that description is completed true!

Great Stirrup Cay is a stop on many of Norwegian’s Caribbean cruises and features several  beaches, tons of seating options, many dining choices that are included with your cruise fare,  and a wide range of activities to enjoy.

Upon arrival at Great Stirrup Cay, you are greeted by a team of smiling and dancing staff  members who welcome you to the day of fun and relaxation. I decided to visit the beach area  and found a chair conveniently located near the water and the drinks! While there are options  for cabana rentals or shaded chairs, there were plenty of complimentary beach chairs  available as well.

The beaches here have crystal blue waters and soft sand. You can rent paddleboards, floats, or snorkel gear to use for the day too.

Dining options on Great Stirrup Cay ranged from a huge buffet to food trucks that grilled your  fish tacos while you waited. These were scattered around the island, so you were never more  than a few yards from food or drinks.

If you’re looking to fill the day with activities, there are many options to choose from. Some  excursions can be prebooked through the Norwegian app, while others are available to walk  up and enjoy. Popular options included zip lining from the lighthouse and swimming with pigs.

There are also several outdoor games available for use, including a golf putting green and yard  games like chess or cornhole.

There’s also plenty of fun, picture places around the island.

Can you see yourself enjoying a day at Great Stirrup Cay?
