On May 6, 2025, I had the absolute pleasure of stepping away from the stunning beaches and luxurious amenities at Sandals Royal Caribbean to do something that touched my heart in a truly unforgettable way—I visited Providence Heights Infant School in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Just a short drive from the resort, this vibrant little school serves children ages 3 to 6 from the local Providence community. It’s one of many schools supported by the incredible Sandals Foundation, which has built and continues to support numerous educational institutions throughout the Caribbean.
Our visit coincided with Read Across Jamaica Day, and I had the joy of sitting with a small group of bright-eyed students to read them a few books. Their excitement, curiosity, and big smiles absolutely melted my heart. Meeting Mrs. Brown, the warm and dedicated principal, along with the passionate teachers and staff, gave me such a strong sense of how special this school really is.
The campus itself is thoughtfully laid out, with separate buildings for each age group arranged in a circle—allowing students and staff to feel connected while giving each classroom its own space. It was incredibly uplifting to see how well-organized and full of love this school is.
One of the most unforgettable moments? The children sang a special goodbye song for us before we left. It was sweet, heartfelt, and completely unexpected—and yes, I definitely teared up a little.
We also brought along donated school supplies and got a better idea of the items they may need in the future. If you’re heading to any Sandals or Beaches resort, I highly encourage you to participate in the “Pack for a Purpose” initiative. Guests are encouraged to bring up to 5 pounds of school supplies in their luggage, which are then distributed directly to schools in need by the Sandals Foundation.
