This past year has been filled with exciting news of favorite shows and events returning along with new ones being added to the line up! Fantasmic! returns to Disneyland resort on May 28th! But even more exiting this will be Disney’s longest-running nighttime spectacular, is celebrating its 30th anniversary! On May 13, 1992, “Fantasmic!” premiered at Disneyland Park for guests for the first time.

This show takes you on a wonderful, exciting, and even frightful adventure. It has an amazing musical score as well as choreography. “Fantasmic!” takes place on the waters of the Rivers of America where Mickey Mouse dreams he is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and faces dastardly villains, using the power of his imagination to save the day. Throughout his dream guests favorite stories come to life through performances, character appearances, pyrotechnics and special effects.
Over the years updates have been made to the original “Fantasmic!” show. The first enhanced version of the show took place in 2009. This showing included digital projections and the spectacular 45-foot-tall fire-breathing Maleficent dragon. Then in 2017 the show added even more magic and excitement including new scenes and songs including “Friend Like Me” and “A Whole New World” from the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic, “Aladdin.”

Fun fact: since premiering in 1992, “Fantasmic!” has preformed almost 11,000 shows at Disneyland park! How amazing is that!? We are so excited for the return of this show where you can “journey beyond your wildest imagination” on May 28 on the Rivers of America. This isn’t the only nighttime spectacular returning. World of Color” at Disney California Adventure Park, plus the “Main Street Electrical Parade” and “Disneyland Forever” are all going to be “igniting the night” for guests to enjoy! As always showtimes are subject to change and guests need a valid park admission and reservation to enter the parks.
