Fall Happenings at Disneyland

BOO! One of the most exciting and talked about events is returning to Disneyland Resort for the 2024 spooky season! Disneyland Resort has recently announced that Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party will begin August 23, 2024 and be held on select nights through October 31, 2024. This also includes the return and celebration of Plaza de la Familia Celebrates Dia de los Muertos and all of the fun Fall activities that come along with those events! Let’s find out more about what we can expect to see in the parks this year!

Fall Happenings at Disneyland

Halloween events at the park are like no other, especially if you’re a huge fan of Disney and Halloween! With the announcement of Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party, there are so many exciting things that come along with it. The special, limited-capacity, event is sure to sell out. Tickets will begin for Inspire Magic Key Holders on June 25, 2024, All Magic Key Holders on June 26, 2024, and all guests on June 27, 2024.

When attending the special event, you are guaranteed to see special and rare characters, like Oogie Boogie himself. There is also a special parade, “Frightfully Fun Parade,” just for the event, and a trick-or-treat trail that features so many villains, some of which you may have even forgotten about. Disney Destinations did say there will be some new villains in the trail this year, I wonder who it could be!?

If you are visiting in the Fall, but not attending Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party, there are still so many Halloween inspired activities and themed areas in the park. Some of the first decorations you will stumble upon are above the entrance at Disneyland Park, but the most prominent is the larger than life Mickey Pumpkin!

One of my personal favorite transformations is Haunted Mansion. For the season, the attraction is transformed and re-themed into The Nightmare Before Christmas and “renamed” Haunted Mansion Holiday. When the attraction opens for the season with the layover, it will only operate on a virtual queue, which is free to join. This helps prevent hour(s) long wait times for the attraction. Did you know that each year there is a gingerbread house in the dining room section of the attraction, and each year it is a different design? This year's design has not been revealed yet, but I am excited to see it!

Also for 2024, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends will be sporting new outfits! This year's design is skeleton themed with bright colors of patchwork. The patches are of green, purple, and orange, the perfect Halloween colors!

A brand new entertainment option is arriving for the season. “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” will be offered daily inside Disney California Adventure Park at the Disney Theater. Sing and dance along with Mickey Mouse and some of his pals during this family-fun filled show!

Are you rope-drop to park close people? Even if you’re not, be sure to stick around on the selected evenings to experience “Halloween Screams.” This light, projection, and sound nighttime spectacular is presented inside the park, and even above Sleeping Beauty Castle on select evenings with special fireworks.

Some of the other transformations are the Cars Land section of Disney California Adventure. Radiator Springs becomes Radiator Screams, The Cozy Cone Motels are transformed into a spook version.  The other is Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. Each evening the attraction Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! Transforms into what seems like a new attraction. The songs, theming and plot changes with the turnover of the attraction. If you have been able to ride both versions, which is your favorite?

Two things we are waiting for is a full Foodie Guide for the season, and all of the new merchandise releases!

The final event I want to touch on for the season is Plaza de la Familia Celebrates Dia de los Muertos. This brings inspired foods, decor, and live entertainment to the park through November 2, 2024. The musical celebration featuring “Coco” will have a new story and name for this year, along with new costumes.

There are so many Fall happenings at Disneyland Resort for Halloween and the entire season. With so much time before the events begin, it is time to start planning your visit! The agents at Marvelous Mouse Travels are ready to help plan your most magical visit to Disneyland, reach out today!
