Recently, a group of seven agents from Marvelous Mouse Travels sailed aboard the Disney Dream for a three-night cruise to Disney’s Castaway Cay. This blog will focus on magical experiences involving characters while onboard the ship and opportunities for character interaction that you won’t want to miss!

The DCL Welcome
Love Disney characters? Need some time away to relax and unwind? Look no further than a Disney Cruise! From the time our group of agents set foot on the Disney Dream, we were welcomed by none other than Mickey and Minnie themselves. Complete with a song and dance, there is no welcome like it on the high seas! Every family is introduced by name, making the experience extra special.

Character Meet and Greets
By the end of the cruise, we were shocked at how many of our favorite Disney friends were cruising with us! Throughout the cruise, we met characters like Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy and Max, Pluto, and all the Disney princesses. While on board, you can use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to find out where and what time Disney character Meet and Greets are happening all around the ship!

Characters at Castaway Cay
Disney’s private island in The Bahamas is called Castaway Cay. There, we found food, drinks, relaxing beaches, water slides, shopping, and -- you guessed it -- several of our favorite Disney characters! As we rode the tram to each area of the island, we found places to stop along the way for pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and other characters. Stay on the lookout next time you visit Castaway Cay, you might even find your favorite Disney friends playing in the sand!

Characters at Dinner
Throughout a Disney Cruise, you get to dine in all of Disney’s main dining rooms. Each night your waiters shift dining rooms so you will see the same familiar faces throughout your cruise. On our first night, we dined in the Enchanted Garden. It was absolutely beautiful! Toward the end of our dinner, we also experienced a singing and dancing surprise with a few characters! What’s better than dinner and a show?!? Have you heard of Royal Table? Not only did we dine in the classiest restaurant on board the ship, but we even spotted a few Disney princesses dancing by for their own delectable dinner! However, no dinner experience compares to Animator’s Palate. The most creative dining experience on board, we were greeted by all of our favorite characters from Pixar’s Finding Nemo! On your next Disney cruise, prepare to enjoy your dinner and have lots of fun as you have actual conversations with Crush the turtle and his fishy pals. Sea you soon!

Characters and Cruise Activities
You will never ever get bored on a Disney Cruise! While at sea, our group enjoyed bingo, dance parties, special events, trivia, and theatrical performances that all featured Disney characters. Join Disney music trivia or The Inside Out show for a chance to win some cool prizes. Don’t forget to stop by the theatre after dinner to see spectacular performances of shows like The Beauty and the Beast and the Disney original show Believe. These shows are sure to elicit standing ovations from your whole family!

Characters Integrated Into Ship Features
We found Disney characters all over the ship while on our cruise! Visit the pool deck to ride Donald Duck’s Aquaduck water slide. This colossal clear water slide will take you around the edge of the ship for a fun look at the ocean from a new point of view! You can also visit Nemo and all his friends at Nemo’s Reef on the pool deck. This splash pad area is great for younger travelers, and is gated in so parents can enjoy lunch nearby while their children play.

Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Deck Party
While we cruised in September, our onboard friends were already preparing for Halloween! The entire ship was decked out in Mickey Mouse shaped pumpkins and all the colors of Fall. On the second night of the cruise, there was a Mickey’s Mouse-Querade party on the pool deck! All the characters onboard the ship made an appearance, and led the cruise passengers in fun, Halloween-themed hip hop dances. On this night, passengers were encouraged to wear a Disney-themed Halloween costume. Our group did not disappoint! Decked out as The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, and Cruella Deville from The 100 Dalmatians, we had just as much fun as the kids!!
