So many amazing things have been announced at Destination D23! This fan club event is smaller than the D23 Expo, but still has huge announcements made by the Walt Disney Company. So far EPCOT has made the headlines with five news releases regarding the theme park inside of Walt Disney World.
First up is the new nighttime show that will debut on December 5, 2023. “Luminous The Symphony of Us” will replace the current show “EPCOT Forever.” The new show will feature all of the amazing components of any Disney nighttime spectacular, but in an all new way. Fireworks, music, lasers and light effects will take place as the park winds down for closing each evening, as weather permits.
The next big announcement for the park is a new meet and greet! The dear, sweet, and curious Figment will capture guests' hearts with his big joyful smile. Figment will be found at the Imagination Pavilion, nearby where his attraction is found.
Test Track, the attraction inside EPCOT, is getting an upgrade! World of Motion, the original attraction that was replaced by Test Track, is the inspiration for the new updates. Imagineers are taking a look back at the previous attraction which was essentially a history of transportation. No further news regarding the reimagination has been released, but I am excited to see what comes of this.
We finally have an opening date for Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana! On October 16, 2023 guests visiting EPCOT will have the opportunity to enjoy this new walk through learning experience. Guests will be able to walk through a waterfall, make music by running their hand through the flowing water, and wave while the water waves back! This is such an amazing educational experience for guests of all ages. I cannot wait to experience for myself.
The final piece to the puzzle is World Celebration, the newest neighborhood of EPCOT. This piece will tie the front of the park together with the other two new neighborhoods that have been added to the park.
