Before my 9-night Western Caribbean sailing on EXPLORA I, I figured the entertainment options onboard would be polished and elegant — maybe even a little boring at times, tbh. But what I didn’t expect was just how personal it would feel.
The best way I can describe it? You get to decide how much you want to play, unwind, connect, or simply enjoy the moment.
This wasn’t about over-the-top shows or jam-packed schedules. Entertainment on Explora Journeys is curated, intentional, and offered in a way that lets you enjoy it your way — which can change day by day and mood by mood. Whether it’s a craft project, a cooking lesson, or a glass of wine and a conversation that turns into friendship, it’s all there for you to lean into as much (or as little) as you like.

At night, the Journeys Lounge turned into a cozy spot for live performances — from music that gave you goosebumps to shows that made you just sit back and soak it all in.
One evening, I grabbed a cocktail and headed to the Aft Bar just in time for the DJ set at sunset — and wow, what a vibe. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while music played across the open deck was something I’ll never forget. It wasn’t a wild party — just that perfect mix of atmosphere and energy that makes Explora so special.
If you’re more into laid-back vibes, the Explora Lounge had live piano and vocals each evening — perfect with a cocktail in hand. The main lobby bar often featured soft acoustic sets and mellow jazz, creating the perfect backdrop to unwind or strike up a conversation. It quickly became a favorite spot to mingle before or after dinner.

But my favorite moment? It wasn’t even on the schedule.
We made friends with a couple who had such an interesting story, and after sharing dinner with them one night, we ended up at the Astern Lounge. That’s where we stumbled upon this older husband and wife — sweet, elegant, and totally unassuming — who turned out to be award-winning ballroom dancers. Within minutes, he had me on my feet, giving me a waltz lesson right there in the lounge.

It was spontaneous, lighthearted, and full of joy. I honestly hadn’t laughed that hard in ages. That one unexpected moment ended up being my favorite night of the whole cruise.
On sea days, Explora offers hands-on activities like arts and crafts sessions and cooking classes. I joined a few, and honestly — it wasn’t even about what we were making. It was the calm, the conversations, and the way it brought people together that made it special.

I also became mildly obsessed with afternoon tea — served in a sunlit lounge overlooking the water, complete with pastries, tea carts, and warm service. It became my quiet little ritual.

Trivia nights brought out the laughs, and the Malt Whisky Bar became a go-to hangout spot for deep conversations with new friends. It’s those in-between moments that really shaped the journey.
One unique highlight? Silent Cinema under the glass roof, where guests wore wireless headphones and watched movies by the pool in the evenings. It was cozy, modern, and just quirky enough to be memorable.

And just for fun — I stopped by the casino on my last night onboard. It’s small, tucked away, and easy to miss, but I sat down at the blackjack table for “a quick round”… and walked away a few hundred dollars richer. Not a bad way to end a trip!
The magic of Explora Journeys is that you can do everything — or almost nothing — and still feel like the experience was made for you. It’s perfect for travelers who appreciate luxury without pretension, and who find joy in slowing down, showing up, and staying curious.

Whether you want to sip tea and watercolor or dance with a stranger in heels — there’s space for all of it.
