Recently in the parks, guests have been able to experience new character meet and greets with friends from Illuminations Sing, Johnny and Gunther, and even a few Minions! Most of Minions Land opened for guests enjoyment in mid-June including a new merchandise and bakery, freeze pops, and a quick service restaurant. The last addition, Villain Con - Minion Blast, was recently allowing a limited number of guests for a soft opening.
With all of the new adventures and excitement, means there has to be change. Fans said goodbye to an iconic area at Universal Orlando Resort back in January 2023. After 24 years of Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone inside the theme park, the area closed for construction to make way for new and exciting things.
Universal Orlando Resorts has officially announced a new area, the previous kids zone, will make its debut as a DreamWorks-themed land. There were some hints, or at least I think they were hints, on the construction walls of the area. Characters such as Gabby’s Dollhouse, Kung Fu Panda, and so many more are featured on the walls. Those exact characters were announced as part of the new land.
The new area is said to have character interactions and an interactive play area for kids. There is also said to be some new attractions being added to the land, which is so exciting! This new land will be filled with bright colors, music, and will all together be astounding for families.
While the official opening date for the DreamWorks area has not been released, it is said to be opening in 2024! Vacation packages for next year are already available for booking.
