Now that we have reached our halfway to Halloween countdown, Disney Parks in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland have both announced the return of their after-hours, family friendly, Halloween celebrations. Walt Disney World celebrates with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Disneyland hosts the Oogie Boogie Bash. Both parties are very similar, but also very different in their own ways. Are you ready to get your spooky on with one of these events? Reach out today to get your Halloween celebration started!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is held inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and will kick-off for the season on August 11, 2023. This year Halloween will be celebrated with 38 parties on select nights throughout the months of August, September, October, with the final event being held on November 1, 2023. There are sightings with meet and greets of rare characters, limited edition merchandise, and themed treats for the event.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticket, limited capacity event that can be purchased first by guests staying on Walt Disney World property beginning April 27, 2023. While attending the event there is so much to experience! First, there is a trick or treat trail. Kids, young and old, can trick or treat throughout Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Don’t forget to pack your costume! Children and adults are encouraged to dress up, within the Disney costume guidelines. Here is a tip from a previous attendee of multiple Halloween events, take an extra bag to carry the candy in. We always carry a backpack to dump the bags the cast members give us into a backpack since the others get heavy quickly and sometimes get sat down and forgotten in the excitement.
Also while attending the event there is a dance party back at Storybook Circus, usually you will find a few characters there dancing away with the party goers. The castle stage show is a must do, at least once during the evening, the Sanderson Sisters are amazing! And I will not forget the Boo To You Halloween Parade! This is my favorite part of the party, seeing the grave diggers from The Haunted Mansion is simply the best. Also in the parade you are sure to see the singing skeletons, Mickey and pals, and even some villains!
The final part of the amazing party is that all of the characters are dressed up in costumes for Halloween! It is so cute to see them all decked out. Another bonus that some guests look forward to during the limited capacity events are the short waits for the rides!

Disneyland offers nothing short of the magic from Walt Disney World’s event. Oogie Boogie Bash is also a separate ticket, limited capacity, after-hours event held inside Disney California Adventure.
At this event you will also see a Halloween themed parade with music and characters, which is also led by the man of the hour, the Headless Horseman! There is also limited edition merchandise and snacks here as well, most of which are different from what is offered at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, so why not attend both events?
Children young and old can also dress up in costume, while following Disney’s guidelines, for the event. I love walking around and trick or treating while looking at all of the creative costumes everyone has come up with!
While there is not a castle stage show here, you will find the show at Disney Theater, last year it featured Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and more of their friends! For 2023, Disneyland has announced new outfits for our friends Mickey and Minnie! The new adorable green batty inspired outfits are going to make for amazing photos!
