Disneyland Resort is a place to celebrate milestones, first visits, family vacations, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, and so many much more! But 2025 brings the celebration of 70 years of the fun, entertainment, characters, attractions, and food that Disneyland has brought to guests and it all begins on May 16, 2025. Guests will experience new nighttime entertainment at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, new parades, merchandise, and of course food! I know we end our day with the nighttime spectaculars, but we are going to kick-off our blog with them because they are going to be so good, just like all of the other Disney entertainment options. At Disneyland Resort, the castle and Main Street U.S.A. will showcase amazing music, lights, and characters! “Paint the Night” returns to Disneyland Park and will bring over one million LED lights. Characters from films like “Peter Pan,” “Toy Story,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Beauty and the Beast” can be found in the parade, full of lights, music, and joy.
The next way to end your magical day at Disneyland is “Wonderous Journeys.” This projection show can be seen not only on Sleeping Beauty Castle, but also “it’s a small world,” Rivers of America, and even Main Street U.S.A. The musical journey will take guests on an adventure with characters from “Hercules,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Big Hero 6,” and even “Moana.” Also in the evening at “it’s a small world” the “Tapestry of Happiness” will be projected. This projection show will also feature music and display “an animated mosaic of Disneyland attractions, moments, and memories” as described by Disney Destinations.
On the other hand, Disney California Adventure Park will bring a new storyline to “World of Color” with “World of Color Happiness.” The inspiration of this new nighttime spectacular is from Walt Disney’s famous words on opening day of Disneyland, “To all who come to this happy place…welcome!” Hosted by the “Inside Out” emotions, they bring spectacular moments from other Pixar Animated films, “Turning Red” and “The Incredibles” along with Walt Disney Animation Studios films like “A Goofy Movie,” “Encanto,” and more favorite films! “World of Color Happiness” can be located at Paradise Bay inside the park, with plenty of viewing areas. The nighttime spectacular will feature music from these amazing films along with a rendition of “Rainbow Connection” done by Boyz II Men, while Fitz and the Tantrums debuts a new song exclusively for “World of Color” with the title of “Makes Me Wanna Move.”
During the day, there are also plenty of entertainment options to spend your magical day in the park enjoying. At Disney California Adventure Park the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” returns! With more than 24 characters, music, and floats, guests will be jumping for joy when this parade starts! Steps away at Disneyland, there will be a brand-new character cavalcade debuted called “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade.” Here guests can experience the brand new 70th Anniversary outfits that Mickey, Minnie, and the gang will be sporting for the anniversary celebration.
The entertainment isn’t the only thing receiving a special makeover. The parks will receive quite a few decorations for the 70th Anniversary celebration. Between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, a
50-foot sculpture will rise that has been inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle. The sculpture will feature colorful panels made of glass along with five golden charms that represent each of the original lands.
The inside Disneyland Park, another large installation that features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse can be found surrounded by bright flowers that has been created for the celebration. Continuing down Main Street U.S.A. guests will see the medallions that will be placed on the castle, similar to the ones that were placed for the Disney 100 Celebration. Carthay Circle Restaurant, located inside Disney California Adventure Park, will also feature the celebratory colors of the 70th Anniversary. If you’re just visiting the area and not visiting the parks, the resorts and Downtown Disney District will also feature some décor.
Exclusive merchandise is coming to the parks to help celebrate! So far Disney Destinations has released that there will be Spirit Jerseys, a Lug crossbody bag, ears, and a MagicBand+. I’m sure there will be more, there always is! But the popular items will sell out extremely fast.
The final, for now, update is the attractions! Usually the attractions go untouched, except for this amazing milestone. “it’s a small world” will receive a new friend inside Mexico. Miguel, from “Coco” will join the crew along with his sidekick Dante. Another attraction will receive a nod to the celebration and that is Toy Story Mania. Some of the carnival games will display 70th anniversary exhibits.
