In 2013 Walt Disney World changed the way guests interact around the parks and resorts. Introducing the new technology of the MagicBand changed the way guests entered their rooms, paid for purchases, used their Disney Dining Plan, and even captured moments with PhotoPass. Over the years the technology was introduced at Disneyland, and even received a few upgrades including the newest, MagicBand+.
More recently to the introduction of the MagicBand+ technology, has been the use of the technology on the Disney Cruise Line being called DisneyBand+.It all began with select sailings on Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy in Summer 2023. The DisneyBand+ is a waterproof, wearable wristband technology that will allow guests to use their bands to enter their rooms, make purchases, and even scan for their photos taken throughout the ship with characters that offer it. Children that are attending the fabulous kids clubs will also be able to use the DisneyBand+ to scan in and out.
Now the magic of DisneyBand+ is being introduced to the Disney Magic on October 22, 2023! Guests will be able to purchase their bands beginning 45 days prior to their sailing and no later than 11 days prior to. The band can be linked to their Disney Cruise Line account through the app, just like with My Disney Experience.
This new technology will be the best convenience for guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line. The only time your Key to the World card will be required will be when guests debark and embark at ports of call.
