In late January 2023, the Walt Disney Company began celebrating its 100th anniversary in Disneyland. Disney Destinations has now announced that more Disney100 special events are coming to EPCOT later this year. The Disney100 celebration will run from September 22, 2023 through December 31, 2023 in the parks with the main events being featured inside EPCOT. Currently guests can find amazing photo opportunities, merchandise, and limited availability food items. EPCOT will be hosting the majority of the Disney100 spectaculars, while Disney’s Magic Kingdom hosted the recently ended 50th Anniversary.
Beginning on September 22, 2023, there will be a platinum Mickey Mouse statue placed outside of EPCOT in front of the already displayed platinum 100. There are also Photo Pass and MagicShot opportunities throughout the parks.
During the evening, Spaceship Earth, or the EPCOT ball as some refer to it as, will also display a new projection. Guests will see purple lights with Mickey heads covering the attraction while in the background you will hear a special rendition of “When You Wish Upon A Star.”
Around the walkway of World Celebration you will find a mural of 100 characters. While throughout the parks you will find other banners for the celebration. Also appearing at the parks are the famous duo, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. They will be sporting their new platinum and purple apparel when they greet guests inside the Imagination Pavilion.
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival presented by CORKCICLE will also be going on during the celebration in the park. There will be four new kiosks available later this year with limited edition food and beverage options that will begin during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and continue into the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays.
Another fan favorite will be arriving at Walt Disney World, the metallic purple Mickey Balloon popcorn bucket! Disneyland was the first Disney Resort to receive this merchandise item back in January, and with the official celebration beginning at EPCOT, it will be available there too!
